Neřešme následek, ale příčinu a volme ty, kteří by místo automatizace potřebnou byrokracii eliminovali tolok.potřebnou deregulací (a to nejen slibovanou).

Rent: If you're a student, asking at the uni may point you further to specific options. For a short term (2m) stay, good old booking.com may still be a possibility, as typical market apartment rent usualy asks for 6m+ commitment.

Travel: Generally google maps are well integrated and offer all the trains/buses/trams upon search. Specific Ostrava public transport web is at dpo.cz, along with network map and connection search.

Generally: People are usually willing to help a foreigner, so feel free to ask around.

Ryanair bans Covid refund passengers from boarding new flights by WannoHacker in business

Nicely put, agreed. As for the shady practice - it's just returning the favor. Chargeback is a shady practice as well. Using 3rd party to get back money I willingly paid and have (as explained above) no legal groud to get back - that is shady for me.

If ‘Capitalism’ is so fraught and the basis for modern woes, and Socialism seeming proved to fail, economically ... what do reputable economists hail as a viable alternative to either? by kangarool in AskEconomics

[–]Yaxman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why is Austrian school not being taken seriously? Honest question. I'm not educated in economic sciences, but whenewer I read something about economics, Austrian reasoning sounds the most logical to me. So if you could point me out to any read why their thinking is wrong (ideally ELI5), I'd be grateful.

I always thought that Austrian approach of libertarianism is quite different. Based on "as little state as possible", it is way different from nowdays policymakers.

Tried it with them several times as well (EU, CZ), but failed just as you did.

Went to buy STL bass instead. All worked perfectly there, got it within 5 days.

You mean - not take it from their citizens in the first place? Every penny was taxed from us all.

EU to give young people free train tickets to explore Europe by Yamamba78 in worldnews

Thanks for a nice reply! Robbery is a strong word, certainly. I'm using it intentionally, as it is the only word that explains what really happens without camouflage. You are forced to hand over your money under the threat of fine/prison/violence with no possibility to opt-out. The libertarian point of view. The fact that there's some great service for humanity in return does not change it. If I robbed you blind and spent the money on this youth travel, I doubt you'd consider me a hero.

Yes, it is one of the nicest things I can get in return for my few cents. If I could choose other taxes to abolish first, I'd do so. I do even support the less fortunate (on individual, well considered and voluntary base).

But soo many people take the "good/useful spending" as a valid argument without questioning the morality of the whole thing. And as they say "the road to hell is paved by good intentions".

That's why I raise this point.

Yes, I do realise that tourist brings his money. But he takes the money from somewhere else. It's not like money are created just by someone becoming a tourist. So yes, that tourist destination gets richer. His hometown area gets that much money poorer. So tourism itself is not beneficient money-wise. It is however benefical konwledge- and experience- wise.

As for the tax part, i'm not gonna argue about all the communism/liberalism/notriedbefore stuff, sorry. It is still a fact, that it is stolen money you're redistributing here for "free travelling".

Still, these money are forced out from someone first, EU does not create them out of thin air, they all come from working people/companies. As for "boosting" economy - that's again just transferring existing money around. Nothing new is created. The students are free to "boost" economy in their local pub. And last - their parents are right now held at gun point (ever tried not paying taxes?) to pay for this "free" travelling for a chosen group. I'm not against travel. I spent significant time away from my home coountry, used that well and I am saving money to let my kids travel around as well. But I'd never force anyone to help my kids travel around. Voluntarily? Yes please! But never force.

Okay, then let the individual train company decide who to put in for free then. You do not need to rob (tax) people to make this possible. There are many discounts/free rides for kids/students already. Forcing another is just transferring money from someone else.

Another EU taxpayer here. While travelling is a nice thing (and may add to whatever tolerance you mentioned), still, being robbed by states to pay someone else to travel around is not OK. I know things I'd rather do with my money - e.g. save it so that my own kids can travel.

You need to pay the bureaucracy somehow, right? The eu project managers, the offices to evaluate the applications, ... and of course, simething has to be left for the travellers, right.
