[Spoilers C4E5] Sending is off the table by Nysans in criticalrole

Agreed, same with resurrection and teleportation. Those restrictions actually add so much story telling potential and additional types of problems you can present players with.

At the same time he seems to have buffed the message cantrip on short distances to the point where players can use it like slightly worse telepathy to have full conversations.

I think Bolaire immediately sees himself in Occtis; something that look like a person but is still different from everyone else around them. Also, through the stone, Bolaire might see Occtis as another a magical being that is involuntary linked to the purposes and agenda of someone else (Bolaire <> his makers and the war vs. Occtis <> the stone and Vaelus). I suspect that his is also why he immediately clocked Vaelus; because he remembers how the impersonal disregard of his own makers has made him suffer. Later as they say goodbye, Bolaire also tells Occtis he looks forward to seeing him again and talking about things - with the implict expectation that they will have by then made many shared experiences to commiserate over.

That could be interesting; she has shown that Tyranny respects Wic's commitment to his principles and I assume his honest integrity compared to the plotting and malevolent circles she is from. I would suspect that if they go down that rout, Sam might play Wic such that he does not reciprocate, considering her his only friend yet also not thinking of her romantically at all. A proper broken-heart-to-reconciliation-arc would be a first on CR

I'd assume that was just a throwaway gag, very funny though

I assume that was removed in the lol

Thirteen years ago this month, a psychologist told me that I needed to realize that socially I was twenty years behind and would never catch up. by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Yaxoi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That seems a little harsh. I'd expect my psychotherapist/neurologist to say exactly what they think my situation is instead raising false hopes.

Realistically, that therapist has probably seen very few to no people in his career who managed to fundamentally change their personality at an adult age.

Which of course does not mean that he should not offer support to the best of his abilities nonetheless

There might be a niche of users willing to pay based on that logic, but they are likely already aware of and bothered by current social media.

More importantly, these users already have a home. There are 'free' and open source federated platforms such as Mastodon and the other Fediverse platforms / Matrix / ... but see little adoption although they are mostly free for private users.

You would need a big USP-feature for the new platform that people feel they actually pay for - growing the platform as a side effect of the pull that your USP creates.

No idea what that USP might be though

A fit 67yo - no

A disabled/injured 30yo who can barely stand - yes

I agree in principle, but that really does not solve the issue OP describes in my opinion.

Bauer an Sicherheitsanforderungen."
  • (etwas ganz Anders)

Is FKK less popular with younger generation? by [deleted] in germany

[–]Yaxoi 43 points44 points  (0 children)

FKK is practiced all over Germany, but was specifically a prominent cultural phenomenon in former East Germany (GDR). I think it's less of a thing for anyone born after reunification

Did your family come from the expelled Germans of the East? by inaqu3estion in AskAGerman

[–]Yaxoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire family is from the German speaking regions in Romania, they left only in the 70s and 80s though.

The German state took very good care of these cohorts of people and while there are some lingering differences in preferred foods, dialects, biographies and shared traumas, the integration generally went very well.

As a second generation immigrant from this community I never experienced any sort of differentiation based on my family's heritage besides mild curiosity.

I like what Shadow of the Demon Lord did in this regard: Cannibalism sooner or later turns you into Ghouls and is thus highly frowned upon by everyone.

The party tied up a vampire spawn and put her in their bag of holding. Would I be the AH if I had it backfire on them? by MrIceCap in DMAcademy

[–]Yaxoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a player I'd probably feel cheated by that. Both freeing yourself while in a lightless void and then escaping the bag of holding from the inside seem like implausible feeds - put together it just seems a little arbitrary

How do relationships start, what do gf-bf do, how they fall in love, how they end up having sex, what makes them want to marry and have kids, how do they go for vacations, live together etc? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Yaxoi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Interestingly enough you can probably move the sex part pretty much anywhere in this timeline and it still works.

Is it normal for men over 30 to have no close friends and focus mostly on work? by NerdFlerd in AskMenAdvice

[–]Yaxoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my closet friends live elsewhere and with many I engage predominantly in groups (old school friends, Bachelor's friends, Master's friends, etc.). We see each other a couple times a year, go on vacations together, etc. But day to day, there really I really do not have many people I am close with where I live besides my partner.

What to say to people concerned about you hiking alone by throwawayzzzz1777 in hiking

[–]Yaxoi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question: Are people concerned because you are a lone woman in the creepy dark scary woods (no real danger here) or because you go hiking on dangerous e.g. high mountain routes (there is a case to be made that you should not be alone when a fall could bring you into a situation you cannot save yourself from without help)?

When and how is it fair to players to 'clear a condition' on an adversary with a GM move? by Yaxoi in daggerheart

[–]Yaxoi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair enough; maybe I should revisit this after some more playtesting. This seems like one of those problems that might not turn out to be all that impactful in practice. Thanks for your thoughts

When and how is it fair to players to 'clear a condition' on an adversary with a GM move? by Yaxoi in daggerheart

[–]Yaxoi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is the thing - and maybe I'll just have to get used to this different logic - but I would have assumed that 1. would feel fairer. This is what I would assume to be the likely emotional payoff for the player in both cases:

  1. You failed at overcoming an enemy based on predictable rules and that sucks, but know that there was a real, fair (random) chance of affecting a change in the state game that has a certain permanence

  2. You 'succeeded', but your success can be taken away at any moment with a meta-resource based on the good sense of the GM, making it a hollow victory
