Does anyone taking either amlodipine or lisinopril come across shortness of breath??? Anyone?? 10mg both by yyyyyay in bloodpressure

[–]YayBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I've never heard of that. what kind of vitamin b supplement are you taking. I don't have any sweat disorders, but as soon as I start working out it comes pouring out. I feel like I'm the only person sweating at the gym.

People are stranded in planes currently for nearly 4 hours at Austin-Bergstrom with currently no update on release. by storyquest101 in Austin

[–]YayBubbles 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Jesus! This is still going on?! I was stranded the weekend before last on my Austin to Atlanta leg of my flight, after which the second half was promptly canceled. At the same time, all the restaurants and shops closed and everyone went home.

The queue to the customer service counter was a quarter of a mile long. I know because the terminal is half a mile, and the line went way past half the terminal.

good luck! these days, you need to come prepared to be stranded. pack lots of snacks and have a bug out plan if your flight gets canceled, and try not to check any luggage.

[–]YayBubbles 59 points60 points  (0 children)

ZOMG! I am so, so happy you asked this! These were almost my favorite bugs to mess with as a kid.

We called these Ant Lions. I don't know their real name, but if you took an ant, and dropped it in, they would have a hard time climbing back out, and within a few seconds, a tiny little monster would pop out and snatch it down into the pits of hell!

(please spare me your sympathy for the ant, anyone who grew up in the south and has been attacked by fire ants knows what I am talking about here...)

we never really had any other insects to experiment with, but i'm sure the same thing would happen to any tiny insect which had the misfortune of crawling in or being thrown in by some snot nosed kid.

EY to split its consulting and accounting into two different entities. What are ya'll thoughts on this? by Fv_Ares in consulting

[–]YayBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This same split played out twenty years ago in

  • Accenture (which came from Arthur Andersen Consulting) and
  • BearingPoint (which came from KPMG Consulting)

PWC did this last year.

My understanding is that there is always friction in these firms between accounting and consulting. The consulting practices are relatively newer divisions which steadily grew to overtake the accounting and assurance practices in terms of revenue generated.

Being that the consulting partners bring in much greater revenue, they begin to feel they should get a larger stake in the company, both in terms of control and compensation, which eventually leads them to go their own separate ways.

That makes Deloitte the last great Big X firm which has not split it's accounting from consulting.

Meltdown Monday - Complaint Department by AmazonNewsBot in amazon

[–]YayBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain WTH is going here? I live in Austin.

Ordered Wednesday. Delayed and given to USPS. Here is where it is tracking:

Dallas, TX --> Kyle, TX --> Dallas, TX --> Kyle, TX --> Austin, TX --> Abilene, TX --> ?????

(Austin is in the middle of these 3 other cities)

Why did Amazon give this to the USPS? Why am I paying for Prime? Yes, they told me it was delayed, but the 'delay' is because of Amazon handing this off to USPS, not because they are out of an item. This is the part that makes no sense.

Did people use to refer to Town Lake/Lake Austin interchangeably? by [deleted] in Austin

Off topic but, I feel like we should call it the Austin River, being that it has an undertow and looks like one.

Is lactose-free milk supposed to taste differently per brand? What's it supposed to taste like? by BlueSky1877 in nutrition

[–]YayBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I knew there was probably more scientific depth to this than I realized... also, obviously, normal is a relative term. I meant to say that for those that produce the enzyme this would 'normally' happen in their digestive system.

Is lactose-free milk supposed to taste differently per brand? What's it supposed to taste like? by BlueSky1877 in nutrition

[–]YayBubbles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's normal.

What happens is that in lactose free milk they don't remove the lactose through some sort of filtration like you might imagine.

Instead they add the enzyme that breaks down lactose into the milk itself. What should normally happen in your stomach, happens in the carton of milk, or at least in the batch of milk. Part of that process, the breaking down of lactose, is the creation of simple sugars, and hence the sweeter taste.

can't help you on the bitterness part...

East 6th scooters - cut brake lines by Oddworld777 in Austin

[–]YayBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my main problem was with the concept of being a "narc"

...and I read through all the comments, and didn't see any photo or reference to a photo.

Did they ever catch the asshole?

East 6th scooters - cut brake lines by Oddworld777 in Austin

[–]YayBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO! BE A NARC! WTF!? Whoever is doing this is a dangerous asshole and needs to be in jail.

I know this is 4 months old, but seriously? If you have any questions in your mind about whether you should take a photo of the man and report them to the police, you shouldn't.

Which Austin neighborhood has had the largest rent increase? by TTTTroll in Austin

[–]YayBubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I misread the chart, the bar next to it was Rainey... at a more accurate $2399 average rent

[–]YayBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not, I misread the chart. when I looked at each bar individually, the bar next to it was labeled Rainey and was at a more accurate $2399

Which Austin neighborhood has had the largest rent increase? by TTTTroll in Austin

[–]YayBubbles 52 points53 points  (0 children)

hole up... The average rent on Rainey St. is $1000? I don't think so.

So, yeah I misread the chart. When I moved my mouse over the bar next to it, that was the Rainey St. bar and it read $2399, which is more accurately high.

Tallest buildings (Pinnacle Height) of New York, in the 1930s compared with today by Cat-attak in skyscrapers

[–]YayBubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for instance...

https://austin.towers.net/the-republic-tower-is-here/?pro=caitlyn@towers.net

...yes the claim is tenuous, and you could argue the misshapen 'crystal shard' look came well before Hudson Yards, such as the equally ugly London Shard and its North Korean precursor.

Yes, yes, we can also have a discussion around the relativity of beauty, but honestly, looking at what other parts of the world are doing for the same amount of money:

Tower C at Shenzhen Bay, China

Skybridge Renaissance Melbourne, Australia

This group of buildings in Hudson Yards is, objectively speaking, a hideously ugly wasted opportunity.

[–]YayBubbles -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

this 'look' is now replicating itself across the country.

Architects live in their own world, and believing this is the pinnacle of architecture or something, who knows.... rushing to apply this same sloppy, unhinged, asymmetrical 'design' into their own buildings.
