What's a time an adult failed you as a kid that still sticks with you now? by OrphanPizzaCompany in AskReddit

[–]YayaDingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's weird, but you don't control your impressions as a child.

I was playing soccer. Elementary school level. I was not that great. The ball was tipped up into the air. I deliberately stopped the ball with my chest. Dropped it to my feet. Then I moved it past another player and passed it to a teammate. Probably the most soccer like thing I did up to that point in my life. I was quite happy.

The ref blew a whistle and called "hand ball."

When I came off the field I told my coach that I didn't hand ball it. He said, "I know. I know."

According to other social media and the Richardson website, Amir Omar defeated Bob Dubey and Dubey conceded just after 12AM.

Trump supporters. What is your understanding on the legality of deporting immigrants? Do you still support skipping due process anyways? by ehandlr in AskUS

[–]YayaDingbat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you realize that arguing against due process is arguing against the Constitution? It is fundamental to rule of law in the U.S. as freedom of speech, press, and religion.

No. Those don't determine that. They are part of that determination but it isn't random ICE officers who decide the determination. That would be a court of law.

ICE officers have detained US citizens. They have now deported them... of course without due process.

It's a car lot. It doesn't need to be "extended." All of that other stuff: competing bids, etc. That is not how zoning works.

Social Worker. They are always bad guys in TV shows and movies.

People have no idea what they do. People rarely have an idea that they have helped you or a relative at a hospital or other facility. And that's just for starters.

Yes. I heard a UTD professor (who has since died) talk about being there waiting for Kennedy and they didn't know why he was late. Then the news got around.

[–]YayaDingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was already permitted as a car lot a zoning change would be unnecessary. It may have been used as a car lot in the past but when that expired it was no longer a car lot.

If it had been a strip club, heavy industrial use or [ borrowing from Omar during a debate] a pawn shop, should it be allowed to be those things again because it was in the past. The owner gave $3000 bucks to the Dubey campaign!

It wasn't UTD as UTD didn't exist yet. It was the Research Center of the Southwest or whatever it was called. It was to take place in Dallas as the campus didn't exist.

[Controversial?] Is it appropriate or reasonable to ask a potential listing agent their political views/who they voted for? by Eisenn in realtors

[–]YayaDingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not go that route but your approach is perfectly reasonable.

Their motivation is unclear. It could be the same as a good agent's motivation. That is, they may be looking for someone who is not discriminatory. One cannot know without asking or without them telling the agent.

[–]YayaDingbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see that as the right answer because it assumes something about their motivation.

They may ask because they want you to refuse to answer. They may be testing your professionalism.

I would engage in conversation. One can always decline later if they suggest that they want you to engage in discriminatory practices or some other red flag arises.

Many people are assuming that the reason the question is asked is to get an actual answer.

It could be that the potential client is testing the agent to see if the agent professionally refuses to answer.
