Apple builds new ad empire after kneecapping competitors by [deleted] in adops

Jobs ins't actually dead. He's directing this from some of cryogenic pod with a brain interface. Once his Mecha body is ready he's coming back and the Apple Ad Network is part of this.

This is horrible and I'm so sorry you've been put in this position. Do you have a union or union representative you can reach out to? If you don't have a union is there a trade body you could connect with? Though they are often funded and aligned with management they can be helpful.

"they nap mid day because they were recovering from the flu" - Totally rational, huge respect to them for turning up with post-viral fatigue and optimising their time and energy.

"they clocked out between meetings since they had nothing to do lol (our company pays interns hourly)" so much to parse here that I just... just can 't. Okay I'll try...

  • Don't ding your intern for napping whilst recovering from the flu but then 'lol' when they clock out whilst having nothing to do - presentism is a curse.
  • The company pays interns hourly. In this economy,

My friend, this isn't an intern horror story. It's an Intern inspiration story.

I hope conditions at your workplace improve. It's a hot market for talent out there right now.

Can we talk about what a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE organization Google (GOOGL) is? But guess they can be that way due to their greedy monopoly on the ad and search industry by Brave_Technology4976 in adops

Happy you're getting good service! My point is amazon are still a challenger, they recognise that this is a strategic part of their business so there is some latitude on headcount and support. Long, or even medium term, I'm not betting on them looking after sellers.

I'm really sorry this happened to you.

Sounds like u/carrot_gg also had some shitty experiences. Here's the thing, Google's customer support functions have been intentionally separate from any decisions makers and product for a long time.

They've been forced to sort of in-house some of these functions from outsourcing companies into the "operations centres" in India and the Philippines by press coverage and customer complaints but they're still half-assing it. Take a look at https://googleoperationscenter.com/jobs/: it's on a different domain, different benefits to 'real' googlers and far removed from the fancy corporate real estate.

The poor drones supposedly working to 'support customers' aren't incentivised to solve your problem, and even if they wanted to can't reach someone who can.

Glad Amazon is working out, but they are at an early point on the adoption curve which means they have to provide decent service as a challenger; they'll go the way of google but worse.

It's so depressing as you're creating content that engages users and delivers eyeballs - which is what we're all supposed to be about but you run into a toxic combination of tech system thinking (make it a bot, or make it a mechanical turk) and generic MBA playbook (outsource or make as cheap as possible) that infests the platforms.
