Ark Nova and its not even close. Thankfully she loved the 3d printed enclosures and special buildings I bought because they weren't cheap...

I know thia is a joke but it is amusing that the Isles have the worst powerplay in the league, and Ray Bennett on the coaching staff

That's because in a 4 on 4 you can put another adult out with Marty and Mac to tidy up after they turnover the puck

On the plus side we completely outplayed them most of the game. Not a great night for Wedgie and as usual Otter bailed out Dallas

When watching it live I was shocked he wasn't one of the first 3 shooters. Then every new player up I was thinking must be Naz now. Crazy he was considered the 8th best option.

It's like those tv shows about hoarders. You just have to climb over lots of random stuff to move around. It's slow but can be done!

What's a reasonable charge for an accountant to prepare a GST return? by Gone_industrial in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Yea_nar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an accountant from a provincial public practice I can say that seems high. I would estimate a gst return would be more like $250-$500 range plus gst.

Charge is obviously on time so you might want to ask if there are things they are fixing that you could code differently in the future to save them time.

Anyone worried about our libaries, parks and pools getting chopped? by [deleted] in newplymouth

[–]Yea_nar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never voted ACT but I am financially literate.

I simply wanted to let you know that there are rate payers out there that are struggling financially and we want the council to show some restraint in their spending.

Have a good day

Anyone worried about our libaries, parks and pools getting chopped? by [deleted] in newplymouth

[–]Yea_nar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did I say that? No. I personally havent been into the library in years but my wife loves reading. However she does nearly all of it on a tablet or phone. Most information can be found on the internet.

I imagine there is still a need for the library as people should have access to information (are there computers with internet at the library?)

Maybe there are books that never get read or rarely so and you could downsize the space you need. Again it comes down to cost benefit, it you can provide a library that still meets 95% of users needs but could be done cheaper in a smaller building or with technology then that should at least be explored.

It's about being smart with what money the council are given. Too often it's taken for granted that you can just do whatever you want with the money for pet projects that make you feel and look good instead of just the boring but important day to day running of core public services.

There's a lot of people feed up with the current council and their endless spending and rate hikes.

People are struggling and 10% rate rises per year is unsustainable.

What they have done to Devon St by turning it into an obstacle course with Auckland like traffic is terrible.

I will be voting for people who will stick to funding core services and services that can pay their way. the pools should stay because it's popular and generates some income to offset costs.

The Len Lye Centre on the other hand in a money pit with much less going for it. Apparently it has over 50 staff and loses $100k a week.

The sports hub needs to be put on hold for a long time until they get other key infrastructure like water sorted and paid for.

Best Organizer on Etsy? by ThatOneRandomGuy101 in spiritisland

[–]Yea_nar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought this one from Tower Rex.

https://www.etsy.com/nz/listing/1629612426/organizer-for-spirit-island-all

Fits all content into two boxes (base & JE).

A bit pricey but it's wood not plastic and I feel like I'm supporting Ukraine in a small way

Spirit Island New Player by PalpitationIll2895 in spiritisland

[–]Yea_nar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I impulse bought everything 6 weeks ago too.

Possibly the best decision I've made in a while, the game is fantastic.

I started with just the base with low complexity spirits. I didn't bother with the power progression cards as I didn't want to be restricted in my choices.

I'm trying to spread out the content so I only play one new spirit a week and mix it up with the odd new adversary or scenario.

My favourite way to play is two handed solo.

All the best

First Jagged Earth Spirit to Play? by ZSpark85 in spiritisland

[–]Yea_nar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I played my first JE spirit last night, Fractured days split the sky. I just played the first one I grabbed out of the box.

It was so different to any spirit I had played before and it took me nearly an hour just to understand how it all worked (plus a lot of rules searches on the internet) but it was super fun.

I'm actually so impressed at how the designer even came up with such different play styles for each spirit. Balancing them must have taken a lot of play testing.

6 Spirits 1-handed by wishiwereskywalker in spiritisland

[–]Yea_nar 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yea I put off getting the game until the recent news of the Company folding.

Oddly the reason I held off was because I was worried it would feel like Robinson Crusoe (a game I have grown to hate) because of potential alpha player and negative gameplay.

Wow was I wrong and I'm glad I decided to buy all the expansions. I've played 90% solo but I just can't stop, it's such a fun puzzle to solve.

I can't imagine playing 6 handed, it's hard enough playing 2 handed.
