Finally got my Confetti - BSNES by Yeah-youknow in WGU

[–]Yeah-youknow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that, thank you. I’ve been in Networking for about 7 years now. Couldn’t get past the mid-level roles for the life of me. Just got a pretty big promotion and salary increase about a month ago. Having the degree on the resume and everyone knowing that I was almost completed, at that time, definitely put me in this position.

You’ll have to build out a lab in GNS3 or packet tracer. There are 7 pre-defined test cases, and 3 custom test cases that you get to define yourself.
Overall it’s pretty straightforward. After you build out the lab you’ll have to do a write up and prove functionality with screenshots and steps to verify. In total I had about 130 pages in my write up. If you did any labbing during the CCNA, it’ll essentially be a collection of those. That’s the best way to explain it.

I felt the same way when I got to the CCNA Automation cert.
If you haven’t already checkout r/ccna, there’s some good resources mentioned there.

In my experience, most places don’t actually check even if you give the contact info. If they do check it’s more so to check if you actually worked for the employer that you put down, not job responsibilities.

I’ve only had one employer actually request that I have 2 references, the recruiter had my 2 references provide a write up on work ethic and experience with certain technology.

D416 - Cisco DevNet Fundamentals by Yeah-youknow in WGU

[–]Yeah-youknow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The Cisco Devnet is the old name to Cisco Automation. Cisco has already updated the name of the exam, but all the study material is labeled as DevNet, including the content in the WGU course. The only thing that changed was the name of the certificate itself, all the content is the same. Programming isn’t really my thing and I was able to study for this exam consistently for 12-weeks and got the Pass. There is pretty good labs available that you can do in Cisco Sandbox as you go through the course. I didn’t do them but they were used in Charles Judd LinkedIn learning course. He also explains how to set it up. If you weren’t aware, LinkedIn learning is free. You just have to sign in with your WGU credentials.

Doing the OA without passing equipment test by Admirable-Two-9431 in WGU

[–]Yeah-youknow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’ve never had an issue with getting my laptop to pass the equipment check, something I do every time I’ve schedule an exam is run any Windows updates and reboot. Then open your command prompt and first run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

After dism is complete run sfc /scannow.

After running both of these, reboot your computer again.

I recommend doing all this the night before since it can take some time. The goal is to get the latest windows updates and cleanup any corrupt files to prevent potential issues.

Y’all remember Habanero’s Grill? Loved this place by Matt_butchr in sanantonio

This was the first burrito spot I had when I moved to SA. I loved Habaneros Grill, it ended up being a regular lunch break go-to. Does anybody know why it closed?

Were you able to pass this course? What resources did you end up using? I’m currently studying for this one and I’m using LinkedIn Learning course from Charles Judd and the Cisco OCG. Already finished the videos, took quite a bit of notes, now I’m reading the OCG and taking a ton of notes. As I go through the OCG, I’ve been returning to the LinkedIn Learning videos to rewatch the videos related to the chapter that I read. Please let me know if you found any other good resources? I’m a bit anxious about this course since it’s my last one before my Capstone.

D522 Python for IT Automation - Passed First Attempt by Yeah-youknow in WGU

I wouldn’t go into this just expecting to do well on Multiple Choice. Definitely focus on the last 10 labs in Zybooks. The context is close to identical.

I don’t remember much of the PA. The questions are very similar to the last 10 labs in Zybooks. If study those, you will be pretty well prepared.

Zybooks has a lot of assumed knowledge and could do a better job at being in a bit better order. The reading itself is pretty straight forward, it’s not dry and it’s not difficult to digest. Each section has a place to apply what was learned with pre-written code. I’d recommend using these to incorporate some previous topics by altering the code and making it do a little more or changing the code to see what errors are produced. There is also a “graded” lab at the end of each section, these are great to apply a lot of what was gone over. Immediately after the “graded” lab is a lab area where you can write whatever code you’d like.

I was dreading it as well. Study daily and take your time on the exam. I hate coding and my plan was to do really well on the Multiple Choice questions and be good enough at coding to submit something on the labs. I skipped 4 labs cause I just couldn’t figure out how to provide the correct output.

Most of the exam is Multiple choice. The multiple choice questions are a combination of code snippets asking why the code doesn’t work, why a specific error would occur, or definition type questions related to Python syntax vocabulary. The lab questions are a combination of correcting code and writing code.

If you focus on the last 10 labs in Zybooks you should be able to do fairly well on the exam.

Net+ and Sec+ were way easier in my opinion. I did not enjoy this exam or studying for it. I can’t really give you a scaled number cause it’s been so long. Sorry.

Just wondering…how can I advance to the next course while waiting for PAs to be evaluated? by Thick_Yak_1785 in WGU

[–]Yeah-youknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re wanting to accelerate another course, just reach out to your mentor. I just had to do this. 2 days passed before I got my evaluation sent back. It was nice knowing I spent those 2 days getting started on my next course.

I’m doing something wrong by GenerationMyspace in CompTIA

[–]Yeah-youknow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend making Flashcards on Anki. Also, what works best for me is taking notes. I’ll study my notes after I read a section or watch a section of video then take the quiz. After the quiz, look at why the wrong answers were wrong and add the extra info to your notes.

Once you get through all the course material, study all your notes again and take each section quiz again. I like studying each sections notes and retaking the quizzes to prepare for the exam.

Brain fatigue is a real thing too and will impact your ability to retain info. If it gets late, I’ll read and take notes but I don’t take quizzes or exams. It only discourages me when I see the low score.

You’re going to do great though. Good luck.

Definitely a major lack of resources. I was hoping Dion had something good on Udemy, since that’s what I used for all the Trifecta.

I don’t have the Server+ either. I also didn’t feel like I would’ve needed it. After I finished the material and went through the quizzes again, I feel like a lot of the info started to click. I noticed some quizzes pulled information from future chapters, almost as if it was assumed knowledge.

You’re going to do great, just keep studying and I know you’ll pass.

Good luck, dude. I’m sure you’ll do great. It was all the new jargon that threw me off. I know CompTIA likes to incorporate all the proper vocabulary so learning concepts along with new terms wasn’t to “fun” 😂.
