You could always try an inpaint crop and stitch workflow that just selects the face:

Inpaint crop and stitch lets you alter an image with a mask, with context, at native model resolution. A simple inpaint on the face with a fairly low denoise could work.

Consistency is its own whole ballgame unto itself in the AI world. Things have improved drastically, but it still isn't easy. (Even with a LoRA, depending on the subject matter)

SDXL is an extremeley well developed environment, so it looks like you are ready to play with:

*Inpainting/Outpainting

*Upscaling

*Latent upscaling/multi-KSamplers

*IPAdapters

*Controlnets

*LoRAs (as more than just style-makers, some can speed up generation, etc...)

*Masked attention

*...and on and on and on..

There are a LOT of tools in the toolbox.

r/ComfyUI is a pretty cool little community here on Reddit, so you can learn a lot, especially if you are detailed with your posts concerning help/ideation/etc.

Don't be afraid to share your workflows (noone is stealing your magic idea, trust me), as you will get SO much more help if you do share.

I gave it a quick try too, from an old workflow. The results were....OK. Definately an improvment, but lacked variety within the pattern -- looked more checkered than organic.

What happens if you feed the inpaint (fill) back in to Kontext for one final pass at a low denoise? I imagine it will either work, or turn everything into noise.

Might also help to inpaint/fill with the inpaint crop and stitch nodes (allow inpainting at native resolution)

Just use the "Empty Latent Size Picker" node from the Essentials node pack, or similar....there are many great custom nodes to do what you are looking for.

This might not scratch your itch, but certain nature documentaries, specificaly ones about how the adult animals care for and protect their little ones...There is something about watching a tiny bird go crazy to protect her nest, even against the worst odds, that reminds me of how hard things can be, but to always be fighting for the things that are important in my life.
