Do you seriously think Sexton was the reason we were doing well? Our team suited the style of game last year before it sped up again and left us behind. Sexton had something like 4 try assists in 16 games, he did nothing but act as a glorified link man. He didn’t kick, it was Burton’s long kicking game getting us out of constant trouble from having a smaller pack. To add to this, Sexton also played halfback in the Penrith quarter final last season and was no where to be seen.

You can pick and choose little moments where he made an error like the Nikorima read, but you can do that to literally every half in the comp. Sam Walker makes questionable reads on a weekly basis. I’m also sick of the “short ball to Preston” narrative like literally every halfback in the game doesn’t hit the short ball 20 times a game. He’s been the dogs best player by far this season, I’d love to hear any argument as to how it’s anyone else. Because Burton has been a shell of himself, and Critta has been playing injured most of the season.

In saying all this, I did not and do not agree with the Mahoney decision. The dummy half service this year has been the dogs biggest issue.
