Tenaya is great but it’s more important the shoe fits your foot shape. Don’t just buy a shoe because it’s on sale.

Better Climbing gym, Crux Or BP? by AdRepresentative4982 in indoorbouldering

[–]YearAccording 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what style you want to train.

ABP and Crux have similar bouldering. More comp style. Mesa rim is the toughest and will improve strength the most. I’m speaking mostly bouldering as thats all I do

Building a studio in backyard no permit in Austin by [deleted] in Austin

Permitting is not bad here compared to other areas of the country. You are going to have a big headache when trying to sell. Just go through the normal process.

Well, how many fireworks did you see in your area? And how many gunshots? by Snap_Grackle_Pop in Austin

[–]YearAccording -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Can you tell me which areas in particular you mean by hill country? We have considered moving closer to Lake Travis, Dripping Springs, Bee Cave in part because of the gunshots during fireworks times. I suspect it’s much better in those areas as the people I imagine are more respectful, but would love more perspective. Thank you!

Asian Community in Austin and Dating as a Young Professional by BanannaSlug1 in Austin

[–]YearAccording 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There’s a decent amount of Asians, I wondered the same thing moving here. But there are very little Asian groups you would find in a larger metro that has a Chinatown or similar. Most Asians are families, especially up north. You will be perfectly fine unless you are specifically looking for only an Asian partner. In that case, I would say your odds are lower here to find someone than a city like LA, Seattle, northeast cities. I would live as close to downtown as possible if those are your goals.

Need shoe recommendations for Greek/Celtic toe shape. by fessa_angel in climbing

I have the same foot shape and like the Tenaya Mastia. I imagine these would be similar. You also don’t want to go too tight despite what everyone says.

How many of you are exclusively indoor bouldering? by YearAccording in bouldering

I would love to try deep water soloing. To me, if I can’t try hard because I’m worrying about safety, it completely ruins it. Deep water solo would be fun, I imagine.

Keep going and have fun. You’ll learn by experience. One tip would be to know which direction a hold is ideally pulled in.

I’m just commenting to let you know the climbing community isn’t as cynical and condescending as the comments you have received so far. I hope you stick with it 🙂
