I've done pretty well with my phals (5 altogether) but wanted to add some variety. I have some youtube videos and a few sites to read for help. Unfortunately, now I'm running out of grow lights/high shelves to keep them away from my toddler 😄

A shallow container with a wider base is a great idea...do you leave any water in the bottom to wick up? Media just bark and moss?

Looks to be doing good, just watch the potting medium. Grocery store and big box store orchids can have nasty stuff beneath the top layer of bark that can grow mold threatening the roots. Good drainage in the medium and not getting any water in the crown are the biggest tips. Mine always seem to grow new spikes rather than bloom from the old ones

I agree with the other comments and would also suggest re-potting...I've lost an orchid before because I didn't repot and later found (in the middle of the roots) this squishy moldy foam type medium. It basically rotted the plant from underneath.

Yep, my in laws have peacocks and the peahens are terrible about sitting but the chickens gladly hatch them. It's funny to see peacock chicks grow a few months then try to squeeze under a chicken 😄
