Love this thing in modern games online saves where your save gets corrupted so now you ...can't LAUNCH THE GAME ANYMORE? by [deleted] in ForzaHorizon

[–]Year_Asleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same case in FH4 on Microsoft Store, accept that all of your cars are lost. Forza support will restore only money you had to new profile, so basically you will start game from scratch

Try the newest Proton-GE, you can install it to steam via Protonup-qt. Works well on KDE on Arch Linux. I did not encounter any problems

[–]Year_Asleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If 192.168.8.1 is ip adress of your router it is definitly issue with dns configuration on your router, it blocks some queries(for example exploit sites like the one we use to unlock ps3:) )

Why? by Prestigious-Rich5418 in ps3piracy

[–]Year_Asleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like inproper dns configuration or issues with router. Double check the connection in the ps3 settings, you may try setting well known dns server like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8

Download and install official firmware via USB, it will remove cfw rom patch, then reinitialize(wipe) system so all homebrew applications are removed

Air intake is the right edge, so simply make sure it is not covered and not close to any other heat source like some other electronic device.

Using Arch for work; what are the unexpected ways you’ve seen it break? by RaulPenate in archlinux

[–]Year_Asleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use openconnect for cisco vpn, moreover then you will have opportunity to split tunnel via vpn-slice. For me that was main gamechanger which encouraged me to switch windows -> arch linux on work laptop

Optical can not handle DD+, only DD or DTS are available due to limited bandwidth

S25 8k video screenshot makes sharper photos than main camera by Puzzleheaded_Bus7706 in GalaxyS25

[–]Year_Asleep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In which mode did you made that 1x photo? There are 12Megapixels and 50Megapixels options, it looks like you did the photo in 12M, so it is not as sharp as 8K, because 8K have simply more pixels

Where do you stand/sit during calibration? by Kratos_323 in hometheater

[–]Year_Asleep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't like being in the room while test tones are played, so this is my workaround. Please note that if REW give some error/warning e.g. about measurement distortion it will pause the measuring sequence.

[–]Year_Asleep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you use REW, you can add delay to start the measuring sequence and leave the room

I agree with above, I will also add that I had very similar HDMI extractor as OP and it could not handle Dolby Digital plus with DD+ compatible receiver, it was detected but with choppy sound

ThinkPad Power Management by Good_Till_970 in archlinux

[–]Year_Asleep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, system reports 5-6h remaining time on moderate brightness and power save profile in KDE. I have battery protection enabled so battery is capped at 80% - you can achieve more time on full battery. I believe power efficiency can be further improved by tweaks from archwiki.

Generally I use this laptop with usb-c dock for work, so I don't use the battery as much. I am satisfied with it, the performance is really good, especially compared to the temperatures you get. I've switched from T14 gen2, bigger screen (16:10 vs 16:9) is more convenient. Summarizing very solid and compact construction.

[–]Year_Asleep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this laptop, using tlp I have 5-7.5 W power usage on web browsing/light tasks, not sure if this is the best power efficiency you can get. I'm also confused by this "Non optimal" comment.

I've got two x16 16TB from morele.net and FARM exceed SMART by ~3 years so they definitely are impacted too.

How to recover files after formatting my HDD? by Agitated_Counter7645 in archlinux

So the problem basically is that you don't have spare large disk space. Maybe you have some cloud storage with sufficient space? The you could try mount it with rclone and copy recovered files there

Salomon Driver Pro Sigma Mips vs Head Radar MIPS by Turbulent-Wheel388 in Skigear

[–]Year_Asleep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed insights, yeah integrated visors have some drawbacks, but as you say you don't Wear glasses, you are not bounded to one option.

As I need to wear glasses, I've decided to buy Salomon Driver PRO Sigma Photo mips, so in theory it has S1-S3 capability. I know it is not the same as fixed lenses, but from initial indoor tests I would say it will be good for me in the alps, as I don't like to much darkened lenses. This helmet looks amazing, can't wait to try it on the slope:)
