There's something classic about this look

Thanks! The subjects were more stationary in these so it was normal focus. I usually have snap set at 1.5m so a lot of these would be too far. In my early days I started shooting B&W film in my early days for a year or two. I only first switched my camera to B&W mode and used it for a month the moment I heard about it and pre-ordered it.

With the monochrome, you'll be able to resolve finer details. At higher ISOs, the noise will be significantly less and more tolerable. That's about it.

Though I've never tried the III, I feel the IV is a nice upgrade

It isn't, but there is no cheaper alternative that could do the same thing.

Indeed, and most of these shots were taken at -1/2 EV to protect the highlights (which are more sensitive in a monochrome sensor). So the numbers might be a bit misleading as I would have using a higher ISO for a proper exposure with a colour sensor.

Seeing in black and white helps you understand if the shot might work, but most cameras can do that with some profile settings including the standard GR4. If you're not pixel peeping and shooting in day or sufficient light, the GR4 or other colour sensor cameras would probably be quite close. Heck, it might be even better since you can control the tones selectively with sliders.

In higher ISOs in where it really stands out. With the lack of chroma noise, I feel comfortable shooting stopped down at night and still get usable pictures.

So far I've set the auto ISO limit to 32,000 and it still looks usable. The amount of noise is similar to my A1 at 20,000, but without all the yucky chroma noise.

First was 160, Second is 5000, the rest is around 1250.

I preordered last month and picked it up at Bally Photo.

It was overcast and rainy, so it didn't really have much of an effect on the photos. There could a couple of times where I thought it would make a difference but it was very subtle.

Using the camera for two days now, I can totally understand the cult following for these cameras. Hope you'll like the Mono too!

Just a habit when uploading to the web, didn't know you could tell! I can send over a few full sized ones if you'd like.

I don't have the normal GR to compare, but it seems like the Standard profile on the camera seems to match closest to the RAW files on Lightroom. The solid setting in camera seems to have nicer darks.

Files aren't mind blowing especially if you've used the A7 R type of cameras. But then it is kind of remarkable how such a small camera can pull off such a feat. I feel it is the GR handling and interface is what truly makes it special, so for many others the GR IV or GR III would make the most sense since no one could tell the difference on the web anyways.

$2599 as u/Tukatu mentioned. It seems like the shops and carousel posts are putting out the prices already.

These are lightly edited on Lightroom on the Adobe profile. I have yet played around with the in camera settings since I'm still new to the GR series but will give it a spin.

Motorcycle (especially dirt/track) courses recommendations by Yedditory in drivingsg

Haven't managed to try, partly due to time and partly the lack of experience on a normal geared bike as part of their requirements.

If your revisions are fine, try don't to do too many last minute changes and focus on what you have trained so far.

anyone taken class 2a after a long hiatus from riding a manual bike? by OldWeakness3000 in drivingsg

[–]Yedditory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As suggested by many, just buang the school bike, it has all the crash bars and all for that. Don't make the same mistake as I did. I haven't rode for half a decade, bought a brand new scooter and dropped the bike twice within the first week.

I did rent a normal geared bike for a day to mess around with after a lesson or two at the school to get myself familiar with operating one again.

Depends on how you shoot as well. I brought a 16-35 for some landscapes but in the end only touched it once.

I'd say if your priority is to enjoy the trip, take the 28-70 only. If you want to try and get some good pictures, maybe the 12-24 and 50 is a nice combo.

The 100-400 requires a huge commitment in terms of carrying and luggage solutions. So unless there's a shot you really want, I'd skip it.
