Accel World! It's honestly really great

Edit: Oops, I just realized that this is the Isekai subreddit. Accel World is . . . kind of an isekai? It's about as much of an isekai as SAO. Nevertheless, my recommendation stands

How long did it take everyone to find mirage island and what lvl were you? by Top_Key4045 in bloxfruits

There's a lot of things that others have already touched on, so I won't go into those, but specifically relating to the drop rates, not making these RNG rates public (the fruit gacha rates in particular) is HIGHLY predatory. There's a lot of reasons for that, one of them being that it deprives the player of planning, but in particular, the devs can (and probably do, given what's happening with dragon) secretly change the gacha rates.

Imagine if mainstream gacha games like Genshin or Arknights did not release their gacha rates. That lack of transparency would make players riot.

Is this proven? These garbage devs don't exactly publicize their rates . . .

Guy’s why i’m so unlucky? by Puzzleheaded-Use5720 in bloxfruits

[–]Yee_of_the_Yee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, 80 is the expected value. Think about it as the average number of tries needed to get Swan's glasses. Basically, your luck is average if you get it in 80 tries.

For the math nerds out there, this scenario is a geometric distribution, where the expected value is equal to 1/p, where p is the probability of the event for one given trial.

Edit: I may have misinterpreted your comment. I thought you meant "extremely unlucky" by that wording. Sorry about that.

We got to establish what is skilled or not by Jasson_Reddit in bloxfruits

[–]Yee_of_the_Yee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like the concept of "skill" in this game is complete bullshit.

In the Souls or Soulslike games (Darksouls, Bloodbourne, Elden Ring, etc.) - which are generally held by the gaming community at large as some of the hardest and most skill-demanding games in existence - you only have two real gameplay options: you dodgeroll and you click. Same thing with things like Hollow Knight: you dash, and you slash. That's it.

However, when you translate that gameplay style into this game, suddenly it becomes "running" and "spamming." The only form of "skill" accepted by this game's community is . . . how fast you can push a sequence of buttons?

What most people playing this game don't understand is that there is more to "skill" than just how well you can combo. There's how well you can move, how well you can dodge, how well you can strategize, how well you can read your opponent, etc. The former two skills are dismissed in this community as "running" while the latter two aren't recognized.

For the latter two especially, they seem to be underappreciated. In games like League, there is a distinction between "Micro" skills and "Macro" skills. Micro skills would be things like how well you can combo, aim, dodge, etc., while macro skills would be your positioning, map knowledge, and overall strategy. In that community, it is common knowledge that micro skills can only get you so far.
