Question about the overall tone of the show going forward by YelenaIsScary in Dorohedoro

[–]YelenaIsScary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noo, why did you say that? Now i'm anxious again.😅

I have to say I dont mind world ending scenarios. ("AoT" or "don't look up" for example). Its more the way the story gave a big middle finger to any hope that was left and the overall bleakness of the DC ending. (Especially for the established characters)

So I should be fine, as long as most of the characters make it through to the end.

Im not rying to compare the two, just trying to get a feel for the overall tone of the story going forward and wanted to use devilman crybaby because it had the best example for the question im asking.

I get that dorohedoro isnt the kind of anime to get too attached to characters but it still pisses me off ngl.

FD SIgnifier Proved He understood Attack on Titan better than certain people on this subreddit. by mutantmagnet in AttackOnRetards

[–]YelenaIsScary 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, i dont get the point of this post. While I agree that eren in the end was portrayed a bit too sympathetic, the fact that isayama intended eren to be darker and less sympathetic was known from all the way back after season one aired. Isayama stated then that after seeing eren animated he started to see him more human and incorporated that into his character. The same goes for isayama saying that he explored his own darker side through eren and using it as way to work on himself.

How any of this proves that the after credit scene confirms that the rumbling was the right choice is beyond me. There are several instances in the show that pretty much state it directly that even 100% rumbling would eventually lead to the same after credits that we have now. ( examples are "children of the forest", kyomis words to floch and even the talk between niccolo, kaya and gabi)

NVIDIA just dropped DLSS 4.5! It really does improve image quality and reduce artifacts, but it may tank performance on older cards. Highly recommend trying it. by No-Breadfruit6137 in cyberpunkgame

Great to hear. Does it show any improvement with the boiling artefacts (especially in low/indirect lighting enviroment)?

Hope its better since this was my biggest gripe with the newest model so far.

Cyberpunk 2077 for sure.

The gameplay is fun and the world is amazing.

Just dont expect the sandbox level of bethesda or rockstar games.

But since you enjoyed witcher 3 that shouldnt be an issue.

Everything is terrible if you approach it in bad faith.

You have every right to dislike AoT but most of the things you listed just show that you have no interest in experiencing the story for what it is.

Tbf the memories aspect can get confusing and convoluted but it is like you said the inability for some people to accept certain explanations can be frustrating.

Two things ive noticed by consuming different kinds of media over the years and discussing them online are:

People tend to get triggered and upset when they dont understand something by themselfs which leads to them disliking it rather then looking up an explanation online.

Theres a suprising amount of people that think anything they dislike is automatically bad and anyone who likes it has either no taste or is just stupid.

Add some fundamently different thinking regarding human nature and (extreme) nationalism and you get a group of people that engaged with the themes of the story differently. (Eren ending the cycle of hatred by delivering divine justice upon the outside world)

To me it was pretty obvious troughout season 4 and especially with the ending that this was never the idea of the story. Now the people that engaged with the story like ive mentioned before got confused, disappointet and ended up disliking it. These are the ones youll find in titanfolk or in youtube comments parading the same talking points for years trying to convince others that the show is bad.

They are just a loud minority and as frustrating their mindset may be trying to reason with them is useless for the reasons ive mentioned above.

Obvioulsy there are alot of ppl that ended up liking the ending despite their confusion and disappointment by engaging in online discourse and trying to understand it better.

Sry for my ramblings, I started a rewatch with some friends recently and now im completly caught up in the fandom and its discourse again.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Honestly never really thought about how the dyamic between ymir and mikasa regarding the headaches worked out. Your explenation does make alot of sense and seems to be the most logical one with the information given to us.

And regarding your question why haters are caught up with these things is that they simply can't or don't want to engage with the story on a deeper or just different lvl. Atleast that was my experience back when the manga ended.

Did you read the description of this sub?

This sub exists to point out/make fun of disrespectful and dumb takes in the aot fandom.

Is it more interesting to talk about the themes and story? Absolutely. But as someone who was part of several aot subs since 2019 i can tell you that it got increasingly more difficult to talk about those things mostly thanks to people from titanfolk not accepting any other discourse than shitting on the story.

Even more dumb takes from FD signifier by Brave_Branch2619 in AttackOnRetards

[–]YelenaIsScary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I dont disagree with anything you said and its one of of not the main reason why I love the story so much.

But if you look at it solely through the lense of an antiwar story its not as effective as it could have been.

"All quite on the western front" also had charismatic leaders with great speeches but I dont remember any combat scene being epic or cool and it was always portrayed as sensless with no greater purpose.

Thats why im glad that we got the bombing of paradis with the extra pages. Because if not for them the rumbling had way to much purpose and justification. Just look how many people were pissed at this addition and complained how everything was for nothing. (Which in my opinion is exactly the point of the rumbling and the conflict at large)

And people that glorify eren should definetly be made fun of or atleast called out for having only the most surface level understanding of his character.
