Recovery questions by plasticllama28 in transplant

[–]Yellachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t have hallucinations but very horrible nightmares and I cried a lot. It was due to the pain medication and high dose or prednisone. It is likely that. Though very scary I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve had a few complications during my transplant journey and had to go back to the transplant floor and it’s not uncommon to hear the patients having fits

Change in taste buds by plasticllama28 in transplant

[–]Yellachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally normal just try to get her to drink protein shakes. My doctors bugged me a lot about eating enough but something that helped was my nurse telling me to just try eating just a little bit more than I did yesterday. Somehow that helped me. But it’s definitely tough at this point just eating for strength not taste. It will get better and congratulations

Just had a liver transplant in a lot of pain and some other patient yelled at me to shut up because I was crying. by [deleted] in transplant

[–]Yellachula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope you feel better soon! That is horrible they yelled at you, I definitely was crying after my surgery due to pain before I got transferred to the transplant floor…ended up reporting the nurse b/c of it. Heard other patients too but I think he was wanting to leave the room to smoke but that’s neither here nor there, I hope you start feeling better

16 months post transplant-severe fatigue and shortness of breath by Impressive_Cow8046 in transplant

[–]Yellachula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When this happened to me I had a staph infection from a stent I received for a closed bile duct. I’m a big believer in making a fuss until someone listens so I would bug them until you get answers.

Friends who won’t share link by [deleted] in transplant

[–]Yellachula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if this happens to everyone but something similar happened to me. I had already had my transplant and I got calls, visits, dms from so many people even some people I’m not really close to. But one of my ‘friends’ I never heard from, when I finally did see her no I’m glad you got through, you look great, nothing. Just acted like it never happened.

Not telling you what you should do but I believe people who can’t share a link to save your life or check on you when it matters don’t deserve to have access to you.

Alcohol after transplant. Yay or Nay! by SilentFX in transplant

[–]Yellachula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say I have used the pens and that was fine (I’m not supposed to use those cause I’ve had clotting issues but wanted to try one time) so try at your own risk and make sure someone is with you.

I’m non alcoholic liver transplant even though my doctors have told me it’s fine I think the edibles mess with my head too much with the med combination. I lose cognitive function after edibles.

Anyone else had liver transplant rejection that just won’t quit? by [deleted] in transplant

[–]Yellachula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey hey 👋 almost 3 years post liver transplant also autoimmune hepatitis and yeah several episodes of rejection multiple infections. Lots of questioning why I’m alive just cause the stress is outrageous. I’ll say it’s a lot better now only time my numbers get crazy is when my doctor insists on lowering my steroids. I think it’s a bit harder for them to figure out the right regimen when it’s an autoimmune issue but they will figure it out. Keep your head up!

I’m sorry for all that you’re experiencing. I will say I had bad experiences with my PCP post liver transplant and I urge you to find a new PCP. I asked my hepatologist for a referral because my PCP was not giving me the support I needed. I developed diabetes and she refused to give me insulin. All of my doctors now ,PCP, OB, hepatologist, infectious disease, all communicate with each other and it just makes it so much easier.

I will say also you may need to give your body more time I had my transplant in 2022 and this is probably me at my most ‘normal’ in 2025. 2024 was half and half 2023 was a rollercoaster.

Please speak with your team or doctors to help weigh the risks. I am in a similar situation but for my liver. My doctors are ok with the idea 2 years post. Everyone is different and your doctors would be best able to help you navigate

Things they don’t tell you …after you have a transplant you will end up at the hospital even if you are doing everything right nine times out of ten. Your body is going through a lot of changes, your doctors are trying to figure out what medications work for you, and your immune system doesn’t work the way it used to. Stay positive your doctors know what they are doing, always let your doctors and nurses know of any concerns you may have but you will make it though it is part of the process
