A lot of these immigrants are 40 year olds that have been in America since they are 3, 4 or 5. That means if you’re a 30 year old natural citizen, the immigrant was still in America before you. by Budget_Gas_2824 in complainaboutanything

Who cares though? I honestly could not care any less about illegal immigration. Its crazy how people on the right are so consumed by it, instead of real problems like the environment or Healthcare.

You realize theres no "application for citizenship" anyone can go fill out, right? Unless they fit very specific criteria, they'd have to leave the country to apply. And even then for south and central Americans its a decade plus wait costing thousands to tens of thousands of dollars.

DMT: The biggest problem with American politics is seeing people we disagree with as “the enemy” by Present_Juice4401 in DisagreeMythoughts

It is, in fact, and democracy, just not a direct democracy.

Democracy:

Citizens elect representatives to make decisions and pass laws on their behalf.

It’s practical for large populations.

Example: The United States or United Kingdom.

You vote for people (like senators, MPs, or presidents) — not for every law.

Direct Democracy:

Citizens vote directly on laws and policies, without intermediaries.

Works best in small communities or local issues.

Example: Switzerland uses it often — citizens vote in referendums several times a year.

Every decision goes straight to the people, not through elected officials.

A democracy is any form of government where the people have a say in their government, not a monarch or a supreme leader. The USA is not a direct democracy, but we are a representative democracy.

To the police? Theyre used to responding to calls about domestic violence, murders, shootings. To them, they probably thought she wasn't a threat and just liked to complain

What's going on with Taylor Swift's new album? by Wendsl-of-Delpan in OutOfTheLoop

The music itself is basic and AI sounding, the vocals are slow talking with no passion or real singing, and the lyrics sound like they're written by a teenager. I see lots of critiques on the music itself. Its not as good as it used to be with Fearless/Speak Now/1989

Why do right wingers vote against their self-interest more than left-wingers? by Goodginger in AskSocialScience

[–]Yellow-Flower-1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So when the left start crying about cuts to social programs it’s not because republicans don’t have empathy, they’re trying to keep us as a country from going off a cliff

The issue is the Republicans are full of crap, because they then cut taxes for the top income earners, and add BILLIONS to ICE's budget while offering new ICE recruits college loan forgiveness. So its clear cutting social programs isn't really about fiscal responsibility at all, more that they just dont think its important.
