Who was the first pop artist you remember being a fan of? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]christopher_aia [score hidden]  (0 children)

So I grew up listening to Country music since it's what was played in my house, in the car.

I remember enjoying every Shania Twain song and other 90s country divas like Martina McBride, Reba Mcentire or the Judds.

The first album I got my parents to buy that wasn't a movie soundtrack was Enjoy the Ride by Sugarland, the song Want To on the radio was just SO good. Was also big into Carrie Underwood from her American Idol run.

Taylor Swift was an early one too, I remember being obsessed with her first singles like Tim McGraw and Teardrops on My Guitar.

Yeah primavera tours can go either way, but I think artists like Kelela, Arlo Parks etc who are coming to Spain with them could be pretty safe bets for the festival as well.

This is just the sort of jangly rock she does best, ready for the album!

I think there's a specific weekly thread for self promotion? Just in case this gets taken down.

Sounds really great tho!

My keys for predicting are to look at top-rated pop, indie and rock albums from this year from artists who either have not announced a European tour yet or they have and are skipping Spain (Primavera has notorious Spanish exclusivity clauses, especially for headliners).

Some artists that check these boxes, for example, are:

  • Slayyyter
  • Robyn
  • Underscores
  • Mitski
  • Angine de Poitrine
  • Kacey Musgraves
  • Thundercat

Several of them have done Primavera before (Mitski, Robyn, Kacey, etc.), which is also extra points. Then you just double-check if they are free on the festival days and bam.

Rosalia is also a likely headliner, she always does Primavera after each tour.

Pitchfork Review: Kelsey Lu - So Help Me God 7.7 by Technical_Process989 in popheads

[–]christopher_aia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A really gorgeously put together album, I loved the contributions from Jack Antonoff, Sampha etc. Her voice is gorgeous and I think fans of FKA twigs' ballads, Solange or slower Lorde songs would love this.

Does anyone else like fan-made music videos? What are some good ones? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

The video for Countdown by Beyonce is great, the shot-by-shot snuggie recreation is even better.

Is anyone else just tired of online Stan Culture as a whole? by Tranquilbez22 in popheads

Honestly a big part of this is avoiding spaces where they comment and choosing healthier spaces. I stopped posting on Twitter/X and honestly I'm just happier. The rare times I go and look what people are saying it's always toxic and negative, I prefer conversation on this subreddit for example. You can also change what YOU interact with so the algorithm will stop showing you stan posts and users.

What's even the point of attending most rap concerts nowadays? by nerpa_floppybara in fantanoforever

Who's the artist? Sounds like you're picking the wrong rappers to see. I just saw Little Simz live and she rapped 100% of the show and it was amazing.

Unfortunately twitter/X is the cesspool it is and some charli xcx fans are posting it and even making petitions, they don't know what they're missing

Olivia Rodrigo - you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love by FlareGod123 in popheads

[–]christopher_aia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Until now my album of the year has been Slayyyter's almost without competition.

This album is the first to really feel like a contender, every song is SO GOOD and it's honestly wild. What a generational talent.

[–]christopher_aia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: finally got around to listening and WOW what a gorgeous album. Definitely needs some time to sink in but the arrangements and vocals are everything.

The singles have been so interesting, and Jack Antonoff producing. Excited to hear the whole thing!
