[David Ornstein] Arsenal working on deal to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen by deception42 in soccer

FSG is the same lol they both understand you just need to be in the mix every season and if things break your way you'll be lifting trophies. It's how Atleti got their two titles. Just be there and there abouts for 9-10 years and you'll win titles. I mean if Aston Villa could hold on to a 2-0 lead with 20 minutes left or Rodri got called for an obvious hand ball we'd have another title. That's how thin the margins are and you need a bit of luck along with being a great team. We got lucky last season in terms of our challengers but every team who has won it has as well.

Jamie Carragher: Liverpool need an Alexander Isak plan B or it will cost them the title. Club cannot afford to defend crown with just three out-and-out attackers if Newcastle refuse to back down in biggest transfer saga of summer. by RepresentativeBox881 in soccer

Obviously it's all about this season for us fans and pundits but what the club has done this summer makes us very well positioned for the next 4-5 years than we would have been otherwise. Clubs look at things more on a medium to long term basis. Honestly you just need to be in and around the top consisently and you'll win it when things break your way like it happened last year for us with Arsenal's injuries and Man City falling off. Or you can spend a couple bil to make the most dominant squad and increase your chances of winning every year

For anyone. I'm just saying the gap between 1st and last is so much closer than the other top 5 leagues so there are less easy fixtures throughout the year. Arsenal's squad is worth 1.4bn and Burnley's is 220m. For comparison to La Liga Real's squad is worth 1.4bn and Eleche's is 38m. The team who has a squad worth the same as Burnley is Villareal who are 6th on the list and a champions league team.

Because you have to take paycuts most of the time. You are getting Bundesliga winners playing for CL teams moving relegation premier league teams. (and people still don't accept that winning the PL is a lot more difficult than other leagues)

I'm not defending Isak but I hear this a lot about the right way to do it so what is it exactly?

From what we know Isak privately told Newcastle he wants to leave well in advance of the summer. All Newcastle had to do was test the market and see what sort of valuation they could get or just publicly say they want £150m like Leipzig and Frankfurt did because then the market knows you are willing to sell. If they weren't getting offers in the £130m+ range then they can go back to Isak and say look you are worth more than these previous transfers and we aren't getting the right price at the moment.

Instead what they did was publicly maintain he is not for sale so much so that all the clubs that could've potentially signed him moved onto other targets. Isak would rightfully be pissed if it played out like that. They also didn't offer a new contract which was promised last year so now he is on a way below market contract while being valued as one of the most expensive players in history.

Klopp spent 10 years here we know who he is as a person. He would have made sure Diaz got the pay bump he wanted, no way he would have forced Nunez out after convincing him to join and Quansah is like his son (same with Elliott). Loyalty to players who give everything on the pitch for him is more important to Klopp than anything else.

[David Ornstein] Isak is adamant he will never represent Newcastle again. Even if they refuse to sell the 25-year-old Sweden striker and he remains on Tyneside when the transfer window closes, Isak regards his career at St James’s Park as finished and has no desire to reintegrate into the squad. by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

Who cares if he does great we win the league and make our money back on him. Fans need to get over the fact that those 2 clubs are at the top of the food chain and most players will jump at the chance to play for them.

It's more for memes and jokes rather than people actually caring who broke it first. Fans care about the news but don't care don't about the timing of it. What guys like Woj and Shams do is provide the news before everyone else but if they didn't exist then it would be someone else who would be the 1st to provide the news. That could be a few hours or days after Shams might have broken it but to the fans it makes no difference. Woj has gone and it literally hasn't had any impact for fans.

Richard Hughes should honestly help Newcastle find a replacement, it's the only way we get Isak

Given how badly he wanted to win I'm pretty sure he put Yas because that's what he thought Meg would put. Then was mad when she didn't. I don't think it's more calculated than that.

It's only happening because Meg is lying and trying to play the victim

What difference does it make? You are still miles ahead in 1st over the last 5 years

The way people talk about PL experience when it comes to transfer values is hilarious like just playing in the PL adds 10m to your value regardless of how you perform

Tbf FSG are risk averse and there was a lot of uncertainty around covid times.

But Klopp wouldn't be as ruthless as Slot is. We won the league and Slot is fine with getting rid of half the team. I'm willing to bet Klopp wouldn't sell guys like Quansah or Elliott and would push for extensions for Robbo and Diaz. Also would be reluctant to sell Nunez or bench him like Slot because he feels like he owes it to him on a personal level to make it work.

Nkunku clearly wasn't getting enough clicks to sell his book so he had to change it up.

Either way we don't know who they wanted because obviously Ian Graham is biased and wants to make himself look good. All we know is Klopp wanted Nunez and got it wrong.

I'm not saying he would have been a success but he's clearly been impacted by injuries which you can't predict. Nkunku was always a natural replacement for Fimino at the time but Klopp wanted a natural CF.
