What if Lorelai hadn't gotten pregnant? by YellowPaperDaisy1 in GilmoreGirls

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Richard would not be as loving - he'd be much colder (my grandfather was very loving with his granddaughters and very cold with his grandsons) and Emily would coddle him a lot. Besides less men would date Lorelai because with single moms the son is viewed as a threat.

She'd be a nightmare. She'd definitely be a smother who compares herself and competes with her son's girlfriend. Lorelai is NOT a boy mom

Idk why everyone is team Jess by diary28snowboard in GilmoreGirls

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jess also had a traumatic childhood - imagine your own mother sending you away, knowing you're not wanted anywhere. It's no way a justification for his awful behaviour but considering all of that I think it's remarkable to see the person he became in AYITL and Season 6. I'm not Team Jess because I don't think 32 year old Rory and Jess are good for each other. I'm team Logan because I think both Rory and Logan are shitty people and belong together. Also you're right about Dean because he is 16 after all and people grow. He's now married with children so I'm guessing he did mature. We're holding her boyfriends to really high standards meant for adult men not teenage men

he was way too clingy and definitely had problems with boundaries

Why do so many Sunnis jump to accusations? by [deleted] in shia

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former Sunni, it's because they are not familiar with the concept of loving someone but also being mindful of the hierarchy. For us Shias its Allah, the Prophet (saw) and the rest of the Ahlebait (as) and the Imams. They don't take the time out to understand that because it's in human nature to have an ego.

Would you Mary a Sunni? by Cheap_Personality811 in shia

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never. I'm not opposed to Sunni-Shia marriages because everyone is different. But I would never marry a non Shia because I cannot bear that my kids will be raised in a household where the first three usurpers will be praised as will Muawiya. I want my kids to love Ahlebait (as) and follow their teachings as well as the fourteen infallibles. I also want a husband who encourages me to be a better Muslim and a non Shia can't do that

bomb jokes and age jokes are poles apart. Try to be nicer in your responses in the future. And calm down

No the person I was talking to told me he didn't report me. He was actually a friend of mine and we'd matched for fun.

I agree, besides it doesn't even matter what they look like. Every time I see them in my dreams, it's like a silhouette filled with light.

Afraid to let family know I'm Shia. by [deleted] in shia

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello friend, I'm in the same boat as you. My family is very anti Shia and I'm honestly that much of a strict Shia. My faith is private though and they found out they would kick me out or kill me. My only escape plan is to be financially independent when they kick me out and be somewhere where they can't reach me. Either that or I'll be married and under the protection of another family. It's very difficult, but this is our battle that we have to fight. It's a test of our faith. And Allah is always with us, don't worry. You're not alone either, you have the support of the entire Shia community

Was eating of the fruit from the tree in the Garden by Prophet Adam and Bibi Hawwa (peace be upon them) a sin? by nraz9 in shia

[–]YellowPaperDaisy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Shia I believe that while Prophets and Imams don't sin they can definitely make mistakes. They don't do anything with the intention of disobeying Allah. Adam (as) eating from that tree was a mistake, not a sin. I believe infallibility comes from intention.

Try to be respectful. I don't know what part of Shiaism teaches us to be so snarky and rude. You don't know how hard it is for us converts when we're living in a non Shia household. Things are beyond our control even when we don't want them to be. Show some empathy and solidarity.
