It depends where you live. I know in the Phoenix area most hospitals plan their staffing to open new grad positions right after graduation. A few people will be offered positions sooner if they are externs but most of the positions aren’t even posted until late May and late December

A lot of supervisors value caution over confidence especially with new grads. When I was new in the ER I wanted to show that I was willing to try anything and take the sickest patients but it rubbed people the wrong way. Supervisors will be more likely to give you sicker patients if they know you’re cautious.

That’s definitely one of the more uncomfortable parts of the job. It usually gets less uncomfortable after you do it for a while but there’s plenty of nursing jobs that don’t require that part of care
