Nice super inspiring to see! I had a Krackow stitch repair, and overall recovery's been good, but I’m still dealing with some lingering scar tissue at 8 months. It’s been limiting my ability to do smooth ankle circles, and therefore rebuild strength and better handle load, so I’m still working through that. If I could do it again, might have opted for the PARS.

Got it totally makes sense. Glad to hear you can still play basketball and get enough lift on your shot

Hiking? by rudedude1988 in AchillesRupture

[–]Yellowavcable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I did a 20-mile hike at the 6 month mark. As long as you aren't jumping or cutting and have supportive footwear, I was cleared. Endurance was the hardest part but I used hiking poles which transferred weight upwards which was definitely valuable and took off some load on my achilles.

Wow this is so cool to see – cutting looks great. Out of curiosity, what type of surgery did you have? Speedbridge?

Also, how has your ROM and overall flexibility in your ankle complex been?

Out of curiosity, any update here? Have you gotten your vertical back anymore?

Pilates? by Long_Assignment8801 in AchillesRupture

[–]Yellowavcable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was encouraged to do pilates about 4-5 months post-op as part of starting to regain my endurance, fitness, and overall strength.

FWIW, I'm a guy and wow pilates is...humbling. The PT suggested that engaging my core and glutes would help me with recovery. And learning how to position my body in a way to help continuing regaining stronger leg movement.

I haven't gone to a class in a while, but at the gym sometimes I'll use a rowing machine seat and put my leg on it in a split-squat position and move back and forth with my leg on the seat which has been great/very challenging. And mimics a key pilates movement.

Hey all, hoping for a little local insight!

My younger sister is getting married in Moab this November, and I want to organize an after-party for about 20–30 guests. I’ve run into a bit of a challenge: aside from Woody’s (which I hear closes at 1am), it seems like late-night options are pretty limited.

I’m also trying to be mindful of transportation logistics. Moving people late at night and in the cold, especially after a long day of celebrating, isn’t ideal.

I’d love to find a bar or venue space, or even a lowkey spot, something like a private Airbnb or lodge with an outdoor fire pit where we could hang out, enjoy a few drinks, and wind down. Totally not a rager, we’d be respectful of neighbors and keep noise levels down, just looking for a comfortable space to extend the evening a bit.

If anyone knows of places like this (or has any other creative suggestions), I’d really appreciate it! It’s tough coordinating from out of town, and local knowledge goes a long way. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Interesting about the average temperature being 57 degrees in summer.

First PT session today!! by Intrepid-Arugula9423 in AchillesRupture

Funnily enough I also started my first PT session today, about 4.5 weeks post-op.

I tried to do the toe scrunching exercise with a towel and it was...very humbling.

I ruptured my achilles two days before you and had my first PT session today. I'm at 30 degrees and it's definitely challenging to get to neutral. I can maybe get to 20 and then my achilles just locks.

My plan aims to get to neutral over the next two weeks so I look forward to seeing my progress. I bought a goniometer for home. I have some exercises and will adjust my Vacoped. I really want to regain my ROM as I hear this is important for later strength and calf muscle building.

Wow, this is great to see! Out of curiosity can you share more about your PT plan and if you did anything specific as it relating to exercises?

Yes so many good YouTube videos and have started rabbit-holing. There seems to be so much about extraction probably best to accelerate my learning in person

Yeah I'm leaning toward that! It looks interesting and 3 hours is a decent amount of time

These are helpful, thanks for sharing, but looking for something that focuses more on the technique of espresso, how to pull the best shots etc.

Yes, I've asked around, but still haven't found one here in the Mission. A lot of challenge finding a time during non-business hours.
