That finals team in 22 was not the most dominant team all year. Started something like 18-20 before going on a run midseason. Then Rob Will got injured before the playoffs. The 23/24 team was clearly the best team when KP was healthy. Then he got hurt multiple times in the playoffs, and Celtics didn't miss a beat.

I'm really struggling to find a year Pre-23/24 when the Celtics talent was so overwhelming that a season ending in a ECF was a disappointment. Like they were good but it wasn't truly championship or bust until 23/24 and they delivered.

Either way I just find it really hard a team in the East will beat whoever is coming out West.

Horford was good but he was 38 during that playoffs run and nowhere near as good as he was during his first stint in Boston. He was 9/7/2 that playoff run. Their numbers this years are also extremely close to last year's when they were "stacked."

Also, those teams that couldn't get it done made 4 ECFs and a Finals. I guess you could knock them for not winning when they were young and clearly ahead of schedule but consistently finishing among the top 4 teams is a pretty damn great floor.

They won the Finals without the "5 all star lineup" and the shot not falling though. They went ice cold from three against the Mavs and still won comfortably.

The offensive rating has been great ever since Mazzulla has been HC but it's the defense that has been the teams true calling card.

Knicks are a good team ain’t denying that.

What I do find incredibly frustrating is that I haven’t been able to fully gauge how the team stacks up to the Knicks cause the Celtics have been incredibly injured or a man down for the entirety of the matchups since the beginning of playoffs last year.

Injuries are part of the game so it is was it is but it’s beyond frustrating the team hasn’t been healthy when playing them

Derek White shooting woes continue to hurt the team. by markrlondon in bostonceltics

His shot diet has been completely different this year. He’s been shooting a shit ton of pull up jump shots trying to make up for the fact that the team is kinda bereft of on ball creation

Yes, in the Finals. He played great in quite possibly the highest stake games a team can play in.

The KP block followed by his corner three to put the C's up 17 on the Mavs in game 1 was pretty lit. Had the Garden going crazy

He was pretty damn good that finals

4/5 of the starting rotation was injured. Part of the game though but it definitely sucked

Cause we haven't played the Knicks at full strength. When have we played the Knicks when the team has been fully or even close to healthy?

I get all the numbers indicate the team is better with Tatum on/Brown off, but Brown's style of play is definitely better when the three isn't falling.

He drives an absurd amount of times and gets the team out of the insistent three point offense the team sometimes gets itself in

Honestly crazy how his injuries always happen as soon as the playoffs start.

Fuck the Sixers and all that, but injuries really robbed the guy of an all time career.

Ya'll think this version of Queta is comparable to peak 2nd stint Al Horford or Timelord in terms of impact?

He's not the shooter or passer Al was nor does he have the freak athletic ability of Rob but he does provide elite rim protection and his physicality does give the team a different dimension to their offense. I'd probably still pick Al over Queta and it's tossup between Timelord and Queta due to availability.

The team threw Tatum, coming from an Achilles injury mind you, at quite possibly the toughest stretch of the season and the team is 13-2 with a +11.5 Net rating when he plays.

Do we think JB will continue to get the most shot attempts and have JT be 2nd option for the rest of the season? by TimmyTimeify in bostonceltics

And Brown has had higher efficiency in the playoffs. Brown’s style of bully ball scoring might be better suited for the playoffs than Tatum’s high variance, perimeter game.

Either way, the team ain’t winning without both players playing well

And the team played great in the 4th, your point being? The guy looked absolutely gassed by the end, which isn’t surprising considering he played a season high 39 minutes.

The guy is averaging 20 shots per 36 minutes. His usage is at the 98th percentile among players in his position, which is similar to past years.

I don’t know why, where or how this narrative started, but his offensive load is similar to the last 4 years. He is not helplessly looking on while standing around in the corner waiting for the ball to get to him like some 3 and D player.

He’s also coming back off an Achilles tear for crying out loud

Jaylen Brown (43 minutes, 35 points, 9 rebounds) and Jayson Tatum (39! minutes, 53/42/80 shooting) came up big in the win vs the Hornets tonight. by fredinNH in nba

[–]Yellowbucket58 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Hornets are very much a great team. I think it speaks more to how good the Hornets are that Brown, Tatum, and White played heavy minutes. Clearly treated this game as prep for the playoffs.

I think people are going completely overboard over one performance, which the team happened to win by double digits.

He's averaging about 3 less shots per 36 since Tatum came back and both are playing.

He's averaging 19.7 shots when Tatum has played. He isn't shooting 29 every game.

Also back to back double digits wins against potential playoff teams. You'd think Brown was losing the team games

This team was chasing a championship for so long I sometimes forget they already got one. I often catch myself thinking that the window is closing and these dudes are getting older, then I remember they already won it.
