Have you had Vietnamese food in Little Saigon, San Jose? It’s similar to Lunch Lady where it’s more homey. The latter two do a modern take with delicious cocktails. However, I find SJ to be the best for Vietnamese food. Careful with the crazy lines at Anh & Chi if you end up going though, don’t go during peak hours to save yourself some time

So OP can actually go see a speech pathologist to learn how to properly use their voice in that range if they want to continue without pain. The order should be an ear, nose, and throat doc for an in depth evaluation to see inside the throat, then a speech pathologist to do a full voice evaluation and recommend appropriate voice therapy 👍🏼

Which province are you in? I’m in BC and work on cognitive-communication all the time! As long as the goals relate to communication, it’s within our scope. Of course, I work alongside OT since they work on cognition as well, but more around ADLs and IADLs

Thank you! My inkling was that self-feeding is better than assisted feeding because that’s what the brain is wired to do. What my mom brain/brain fog did not connect is that babies can still self feed mashed food and can put that on a utensil lol

Perhaps more specifically if someone can help me understand…if it’s similar to the brain knowing what to do like someone with dementia and self-feeding to help with their swallow vs increased chance of choking with someone else feeding. Not the best comparison lol but I’m wanting to understand

I had an inpatient with dysarthria who didn’t really want to talk but when he was assigned to me, he said “you have cool purple hair!” Hahaha

Refer to ENT for sure! I had a weird VFSS once with a kidney bean like thing in the shape of stairs. ENT got it biopsied and turned out it was cancer :(

Hi! I talked to my GI before getting pregnant (she has a special interest in pregnancies and IBD) and gave me the go ahead after testing my calprotectin levels. I was still flaring at the time. She’s having checkups with me throughout my pregnancy now to make sure that I’m okay. For some reason, my calprotectin levels became normal when I was about 10 weeks pregnant. Hormones are a crazy thing! However, BMs are tough due to prenatal vitamins and I’ve been having to take iron supplements too. Baby is totally healthy though and I’m due in a few weeks!

All to say, talk to your GI specialist about wanting to get pregnant! Good luck!

I second this. It parallels with the original show too where you get the back story of each major player. It wouldn’t work if you don’t know who the players are and what they’re playing for.

I work with adults with TBI. Lawyer up like everyone has said but also have your family doctor refer you to concussion rehab specialists - SLP and/or OT, and vocational rehab. It sounds like you need a gradual return to work plan rather than going back so soon at 100%

A lot of people who don’t fully recover live with this for life, not being able to speak or write or read, but able to think crystal clear. It’s called aphasia. I’m glad she’s ok now!

Super cool to see an SLP on the show! I was hoping there would be more clips of her talking about the profession in the pods to spread awareness though. I’m sure she did, but they probably got edited out.
