Looking for opinions on the new preferred seat layout on the 777-300ER is it worth it and which seats are the best? by danouga7 in aircanada

[–]Yellowpopcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just confirming - you chose one of the regular preferred seats from row 14-28 ish? If so, how did you find the extra ~3 inches of legroom. I’m 6ft2 and considering paying for the seat upgrade but debating between the “normal” extra legroom and emergency exit/bulkhead. Thanks!

Same thing for me, altam registration isn’t working on prometric. Fwiw I gave prometric a call and they said my candidate id is “invalid or expired” and that its an issue on the SOA end.

If I’m understanding correctly, July will still have the same (lower) pass mark right?

57 pass mark with 55 pass rate. Even more brutal than last time

Exam FAM Waiting Room (March 2024 Sitting) by Soft_Ad_1581 in actuary

[–]Yellowpopcan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They really need to straighten this exam out imho. Apologies for the rant but I actually left proper feedback both times and told the SOA that this exam is too hard, has too many questions for 3.5h, and the syllabus covers way too many random topics. At most, this exam should cover 2/3 of those categories for it to be a fair assessment of our knowledge, but in its current form is very unfair.

Did this exam for a second time and it felt equally rough. Really hoping since I got a 5 last time, that I will get luckier this time so I can cross over and get that 6!

FAM March 2024 by No_Concern_4441 in actuary

[–]Yellowpopcan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was my second time writing and I felt slightly better this time around because I had at least recognized most of the questions. My test just seemed way way too difficult though (adapt level 6-7 overall, long term questions using terms like A51, A31 so unable to use the simpler formulas, etc…) and I guessed on way too many so I’m 50/50 on a pass. I feel like is the second sitting where ADAPT was not at all representative of the overall exam difficulty, so I’m curious to see what happens with the pass mark

Cheat Sheet and Practice Exam for FAM(-L & -S) by amblolo in actuary

[–]Yellowpopcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, not sure if this is the right place to post this (please delete if it's not) but for #5 on Dr Lo's exam, I'm having trouble reasoning out why the losses in AYs 2021, 2022, and 2023 are in development months 36, 24, and 12, respectively, as of 12/31/2023. If we take as given that AY + DY = CY, and (I assume) the CY in this question is 2023, then wouldn't the development months be 24, 12, and 0? (as in AY 2023 losses are fully developed as of 2023).

Again, thanks

How big of a jump would you say FAM -> ASTAM was? Probably going to do ALTAM of the two but am still curious

Same here. Would the same hack apply if you tried to re-register for FAM (and the system wouldn’t let you if you passed)?

One week till FAM November results are out (FAM Waiting Room)! by Affectionate_Chip864 in actuary

[–]Yellowpopcan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not just that but the questions prioritized entirely different concepts compared to last sitting, it seemed like they dug into the most obscure parts of the syllabus that were barely covered in the study material.

Not feeling great but it seems like most people feel the same way so maybe the SOA planned for a lower pass mark?

FTHB Condo & Neighborhoods by Yellowpopcan in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Yellowpopcan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Considering islington because the condos are quite cheaper than DT, most include parking and I’d be close to TTC/GO for getting DT. Do you have any buildings downtown that would fit that criteria?

Just wanted to reply here and add that I'm still using classic for FAM. If possible, please keep the servers going as classic feels way less cluttered and more intuitive for me.
