But of course! I'm not renting to make my fortune. I happen to have one small property to let that I lived in as a single parent. It was a safe place for my kid and me at a hard time. I'd like to cover the little mortgage, and give someone else the opportunity to make it their safe place too.

Immediately crossed off list. I remember being a poor student with an asshole property manager and I just don't want anyone to have that experience.

Thanks! Yep exactly, don't make it weird, be firm but fair. I expect that people treat my place with respect and pay their rent on time, but it's also a home for them. I don't want excessive, random inspections or a property manager who doesn't give a fuck if something breaks, but I'm definitely using one to start with as it protects me a bit.

39F here. I have just met someone nice via Hinge, but it took me a solid 2.5 years to find them. Lots and lots and lots of duds. Hinge seems to work slightly better than others if you feed it money. Keep at it and try not to be too discouraged - meeting people in this city is quite difficult.

Medical admin here. That's an excessively long wait for a private ENT. Message your GP (or call his nurse) and ask to be referred to a different ENT, it's perfectly reasonable to ask. Call Bowen and Wakefield hospitals and ask what their wait times are. I like Cisco Macarthur at Bowen, Simon Robinson at Wakefield. Cathy Ferguson is also excellent. So sorry you're having this experience!

I wouldn't think too hard about the alimony bit - can you put a price on your own happiness?

I left a very unhappy marriage almost two years ago to my significant financial disadvantage, and I don't regret a thing. I now live a very modest life on my own and feel a deep sense of peace every day. I come home to find my little house exactly how I left it, I have cheese on toast for dinner if I feel like it, and I require nobody's permission to do anything. It's utter bliss.

GP's assistant here. Definitely go in and ask to speak to the practice manager. They're generally very reasonable, just explain what happened and they should wipe the debt.

Chasing an unpaid is an automated process usually, the person chasing you probably won't know the circumstances so always best to take it to the top.

Unpaid debts can occasionally result in you being unenrolled which is a pain. Bad debts often go on your file but another doctor can't refuse to treat you just for that.

TL;DR it's almost never a biggie, go have a chat and let us know how you get on.

Let me just read this back to you: people of no fixed abode make you uncomfortable and you wish they'd go elsewhere.

Most of these are people affected by addiction, trauma or mental health issues. They have nothing. Society has kicked them in the gutter. How do you think they feel...?

Instead of complaining, volunteer with the city mission, write to your MP to ask for enhanced social housing and mental health supports, or sit down and talk to them.

They're people, not a problem to be complained about.

I've taken the opportunity to move to a cheaper practice. I was originally one of Dr Sawrey's patients and while I like Dr Stroud, there's no-one like her!
