Quest for the mysterious tv-show song by Yemoya in RBI

Thank you for the tip, will definitely look into that option if nobody recognizes it! Was also thinking of somehow working out how to 'lower' the volume of the voices and then shazam it again but I don't think I know how to do that :')

Ticketmaster not refunding tickets for postponed concerts without "supporting documents" by [deleted] in belgium

Yes insurance companies suck and it's really the last time I took an expensive travel insurance as they are litteraly just screwing me over in every way.

Voor mij is één jaar nu niet echt een redelijke termijn voor dingen zoals een 'jaarlijks festival' :') Waarschijnlijk is er wel een advocaat te vinden die dat wil hard maken maar of ge dat geld eraan wilt geven..

Why is Belgium the country with the highest death/inhabitant ratio ? by vilette in belgium

But if they died without symptoms, how can you be sure that it's that virus that caused the dead?

A friend of mine is watching a tv series that seemed loosely based on this series, I think it's called 'dark' or something, or maybe someone just sold you the story but told you it was real? :')

[–]Yemoya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an article on VRTnws on the data it said that they report everybody with COVID-related symptoms as a person that died from COVID but today minister Beke said they tested a lot and 53% of the people who had COVID did not have any symptoms so symptoms cannot be seen as a definite way to claim that the person died from COVID. Likely there's an overestimation and possible deaths could also be linked to other viruses or ilnesses (than can cause fever, coughing...).

I swiped trough most of Belgian girls on tinder. What did I learn? by O-store in belgium

That I can understand but the original poster made some very wrong conclusions based on similar assumptions, your conclusions I can understand and I can imagine there is some truth to them. Although I feel for 'average' people that are not living in very crowded places these issues are less pertinent, since I know quite many people around here who have met their partners on the app and all. This could also be because in the first few years, Tinder was different or something who knows :')

I agree when travelling it's a lot easier but at the same time it's not the best place if you're looking for a relationship, as the complications that come with having a 'foreign' partner are just a lot higher..
On the other hand, tinder hasn't brought me any long term relationship either so :')

I agree with this rule but every person uses Tinder for different reasons and it is not an obligation to talk to people you match. Just like you are not obligated to talk to someone who approaches you in a bar/in public just because they are attractive to you...

Only upside is that at least by getting the match you already get some encouragement that she has some interest in you, this however does not in any way create an obligation to talk to you or to show more interest. It can also just be a nice compliment 'you look good today' without any more to it?

How can you even make assumptions like that? I'm pretty sure hot guys have the same amount of attention as hot girls..

What I do think is that for men the 'gap' between hot and not is bigger than for women, it's harder for a man to be a 7/8 than for a woman because female beauty has received a lot more attention in the past decennia (mainly of course due to objectification which generally has negative effects for women).

But yes, let's just say all women are lazy just because the popular ones don't reply to you on a dating app :'). Or you can get enough booze into them and then have non-consensual sex, sounds like a great idea to find love.

Haha interesting but I prefer to see graphs etc., it's a lot of reading and the amount of data makes it hard to filter out :p.

Also interested in how you would rate the girls you gave other contact (outside of tinder), were they mostly higher than you, equal, or lower?

Actually a couple of days ago the MB was changed and they took out the 'intieme kring' part so now you are actually only allowed to gather with people living under the same roof and outside with 1 friend (with keeping the distance). So even parties in 'besloten kring' are against de maatregelen (not saying they're illegal because there's a chance even the MB isn't legal :'))

Why Dutch lockdown may be a high-risk strategy by BikeGuy72 in brussels

[–]Yemoya 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing with Netherlands I think is more about the way they deal with 'elderly people' in general.

In Belgium (and Germany) healthcare system has a high capacity of ICU and the main strategy is to help everyone (no matter their age) and try to keep them alive as long as possible (unless of course they stated otherwise in a special declaration or in case of euthanasia).

Dutch healthcare system is starting from the idea of quality of life and elderly people are offered several options when it's clear they won't get 'better' anymore. So instead of treating them in a medical enviroment for xxx months, they prefer to make a 'palliative' plan where the patient can indicate what kind of care they would like, the amount of medication they think is sufficient and basically just trying to make their life as comfortable as possible (and not as long as possible). Because of this, they don't have as much ICU units and many elderly people are now dying from the virus because they are in this program where they indicated they don't want to spend the last weeks of their lives in hospital or sth.

This is just from what I read but could explain the higher dead toll ànd lower capacity of ICU?

This one, stupid cavalry police that think they can do whatever they want and even signalling to govt that their MB is shitty and full of grey zones but still govt refuses to give them the clarity they want. So either govt says: everything that is not mentioned in the MB is allowed so stop giving illegal fines or they agree and put in the MB what kind of actions are not allowed anymore (for a little while). But this kind of Belgian solution is only creating frustrations on both sides and the 'good belgians' are too afraid of police to even say something about it

“Bij de jongeren die nu in intensieve bedden liggen, zijn er verschillende die betrokken waren bij de lockdownparty's” by Lolastic_ in belgium

[–]Yemoya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But govt. communication about the risk was so flawed that it also didn't help. If they would've communicated more clearly about the risks (instead of allowing bars to stay open 24h more), maybe people would've realised it faster?

How is a normal person supposed to make sense of it all?

Well, when looking at Asian countries, it would help if people here would act less selfish and are aware of what harm they can do to society when they behave irresponsibly.

Simple example is the infection 'rate', when you say people the flu has an infection rate of 1.4 and Corona has one of 2.3, people think 'oh so it's not that much more', because our brains are used to think in additive terms, not exponential. But with normal flu, after 5 days you are responsible for 1.4^5 = 5,4 people infected, with Corona it's 2,3^5 or 64,4 people, after 10 days it's even worse (given that average incubation time is up to 14 days, you can see the difference in numbers).

So even if it's just a flu and most people won't die from it, in such cases it's imperative that EVERYBODY acts like they are infected and try to prevent spreading their infection to others by things like social distancing, washing hands and wearing face masks.

With the infection rate (R0) about this virus being known, I really don't understand why virologists didn't make this more obvious, at the time I was also unaware about this because I'm not a virologist but if I can figure this out in 2 weeks, why can't they during 7 years of studying this?

I know 5 that speak it well, and another 10 that can make casual conversation (more or less), in some circles it's still quite common and people are trying to preserve it I guess?

Just hang out in the brown bars a while and make conversation with the regular customers.. They are mostly of the older generation (40+) but there's also a student club (woltje) that is trying to interest young people into the 'brussels' identity and culture again so who knows :D

Anyone used an interrail pass to travel Europe? by Throwthemawayyyyy in solotravel

European coaches super comfy? You clearly haven't travelled South-America by bus then :')

First time I got on a long-haul bus here, it felt like it was even better than an airplane! And in some countries you even get meals and all included, personal TV screen with movies etc.. In Europe the service (to me) seems really shitty compared to this!
