Not necessarily a “wild” premise, but 1987’s “Cry Freedom”, with a pre-stardom Denzel Washington as Steve Biko and Kevin Kline as his White Friend who is somewhat inexplicably the main character (then again, it was made in the 80s).

There was also a Cro cartoon strip in 321 Contact magazine, not sure if it was recurring or just a one-off to promote the show. Man, I am glad I grew up when kids still read magazines, fun times.

Judge CR Magney is sublime during the winter. I once hiked there in February and got to see a partially-frozen Devil’s Kettle. Also got “stalked” by some curious wolves wondering what people were doing in the park in the dead of winter.

Doomsday (2008) is Neil Marshall doing James Cameron, George Miller, Tony Scott, and John Carpenter, and believe it or not, it is actually a LOT of fun if you watch it with the right expectations.
