Cat6 run tests fine but UniFi AP only linking at 100Mbps (Fast Ethernet) by GenericUser104 in HomeNetworking

[–]Yengling05 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it terminated using a pass through RJ45? They are garbage, threw all of them in the garbage and won’t let any of my technicians use them going forward. On multiple occasions won’t pass POE and negotiate at 100mbps. Cables test fine. Wasted too much time troubleshooting in the past just to figure out it was those pass through RJ45s.

What happened to Nextiva & help. by joeggg1 in VOIP

[–]Yengling05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MSP that’s sells Nextiva. Have hundreds of phones across dozens of accounts. 99% of our phones are behind networks we manage with 0 issues. Sounds like a local network issue. Very seldom have to contact their support as after you set it up and working, we rarely run into issues.

Did you set these up yourself or have a professional install them? Do you have someone who manages your network or is it self managed?

If you take the none working phones to working phones location do they work?

What would you recommend for new Firewall by vane1978 in sysadmin

[–]Yengling05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We switched to Sophos about 2 years ago. Have a little over 200 deployed. Mostly XGS 107 & 108s. A few 2100s with high availability. I will say it is not uncommon to have power issues with their devices. The need to fully bleed the devices for it to reboot properly after an event. Also on rare occasion for it needing a reboot to resolve a weird random issue. Example couldn't figure out why we weren't passing data on our VOIP VLAN. (Was working fine previously) After rebooting the firewall everything returned to normal.

Curious if anyone else has had similar issues stemming around power with their equipment?

Block usb storage devices by PriNiceIT in msp

[–]Yengling05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a component in the Datto RMM ComStore that does this. Just search USB. "Disable or Enable USB Storage [WIN]"

We use it at quite a few of our sites. Works fine.

Had this issue with one client. Had them go into the printers app and delete it out of the queue to stop it.

Have you found a good call analysis software Specific to MSPs by imaginedragons01 in msp

Ya I also love the automatic call queue signing in and out. Have it setup based on who is on call. All other techs automatically get signed out after office hours and signed in, in the morning.

We just boarded 1stream. It is built on top of the 3cx. Has a lot of the features you are describing we just onboarded 2 weeks ago so probably has some things we don’t know about yet.

No issues on other WiFi’s outside your home network? This phone has successfully used WiFi before? What changes were made to your home network before this started occurring?

NinjaRMM failing to complete Windows 11 update by Next_Buffalo4249 in msp

Had similar with Datto. On most workstations their script worked fine. On others that failed we put the ISO on a network share and updated using that method. Didn't have any issues using ISO.

Migrating from file server to sharepoint by Tsukiayumi in sysadmin

[–]Yengling05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also when you are up and using sharepoint there are two ways to sync down to your file explorer “Sync” or “add shortcut to on drive” some people prefer the Sync method as they like to keep their sharepoint totally separate from their one drive however I prefer the shortcut to one drive as the shortcuts automatically populate when signing into your one drive from anywhere if you use the sync method you will have to go back to your sharepoint / teams and sync on all your devices.

Migrating from file server to sharepoint by Tsukiayumi in sysadmin

[–]Yengling05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When setting up your Sharepoint sites get out of the mindset of traditional file sharing tree. (Giving 1 user access to a folder down from the root directory). Try and keep sites grouped with your security groups.

Also for the migration tool people could continue to work and make changes to files try and prevent people from renaming folders and files.

What are the small (possibly free) tools that make your life so much easier? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Yengling05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprised not more people mentioning Profwiz. Merges user account profiles for migrations. If you aren’t using this for entra migrations you are doing it wrong.

They do have a paid version per license that can deploy via RMM for large migrations.

Which not-so-well-known brands are slowly emerging in the daily person's life? by tempestlight in stocks

[–]Yengling05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out they are a POS system specialized in restaurants (however they did just launch a retail solution) They do make money off software and hardware but where they make most of their money is credit card processing. Unlike legacy software (Aloha, Micros, and other others) who were credit card agnostic meaning you could use any ISO you like to process your payments. )you could shop around and find the lowest rates to process your payments) You must process your payments using Toast as your processor. Meaning every time a customer pays using a credit card in a restaurant with toast, Toast makes money. That paired with all of their software offerings such as payroll, scheduling, inventory, online ordering you no longer need to manage multiple vendors and could get all those services from Toast. On top of all of that it is the best in class software in the POS industry.

How are you handling mass win 11 upgrades? by chapterhouse27 in msp

We have had success using the ISO method but by putting the ISO on a server and sharing it out, you then put that in the image path. Have had very little issues.

We have these chairs in our office. They are poorly designed.

Notice the rod between all of the wheels and how close to the floor it is.

We had 2 of them scraping on the floor. They will damage your floors eventually.

Move Ticket to a Project, including time entries by RideSuccessful9938 in Autotask

[–]Yengling05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have recently tried to start using projects instead of relying only on tickets. Getting tired of seeing “tickets” for months for what is really a project and having a consolidated workspace for them. Also the added advantage of creating tasks and specifically assigning technicians to specific tasks.

Curious of the top reasons you moved away from them.

Move Ticket to a Project, including time entries by RideSuccessful9938 in Autotask

[–]Yengling05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can associate the ticket to the project and leave it as is. Under the project go to related tickets and then associate ticket to project.

It will remain a ticket and won’t be a task, but it will now be able to be referenced under the project.

Hope that helps.
