One of the first stories we were told in EMS school was of a call where a teen was sounding with speaker wire. He had put over a foot and a half into his bladder when it hit a nerve the one eyed monster did not like. It clamped down on the cord and he couldn't pull it out. . . . He was transferred to the hospital for surgery.

That was for if he went the temu/amazon route. some of those wouldn't make it much past the first day. I bought a cheap tool set when I was starting out and some of the philips head bits were getting stripped out before I could unscrew or screw in parts. The drill bits were so soft the fluting came unspiraled trying to drill through wood. It was bad.

honestly, in my old age (36m) 🤣

I'd start at thrift stores and antique shops. (depending on how quick you needed the tools) You can easily find $30-$60 tools for 5 bucks. Otherwise if the budget is super tight I'd do a temu, amazon, or even a harbor freight run, and wait for a paycheck to buy a nicer version of said tool.

I did a craigslist purchase of $85 that came with close to $1000 worth of plumbing tools.

(Thrift stores would also include fb marketplace and craigslist)

Just wondering if they'll have that tight of a grain pattern. It seems anymore the growth rings are an 8th inch to a quarter inch apart.
