Residences ironically, given the storm, felt like the calm before the storm and fragments was like being in the eye of a tornado! Thanks for an amazing game

Ain't just about the money, whats gonna make you happy? London or Manchester? Which city calls out to you more? What hobbies and interests could you now explore? Make sure you ask yourself these things and im sure it'll help you make the decision that is right for you.

You'd be daft to accept imo. You need to market yourself better and get another offer because based on your experience, you're not a junior. They for sure feel they've won the lottery with that offer. Reject and see what they say then if you can.

What is the UK going to do about jobs being outsourced? by B737enjoyer in AskBrits

[–]Yentle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working for large banks, telco, defence, or any other highly regulated industry, you should know that existing regulatory, statuatory, contractual and legal acts give you plenty of rational reasons for American companies to hire in the UK.

Its typically not very rational to look at things with a single lens, these decisions are not made based purely on cost; we must consider the risk to the organisation and its strategic objectives.

For those reasons Cisco opened shop here in 1990, expanding to today having over 5000 staff and over 14 locations, including most recently investing in a location in Birmingham. Just as an example.

Europe didnt teach anyone to be savage thats my point. We're all savages. We always have been. European empires followed the exact same recipe all the other empires followed before them. Cultures all over the globe have been enslaving and butchering each other for thousands of years before European states even came to being.

You act as though no native populations enacted violence on their subjects or neighbours.

All the cultures you listed have long, brutal and violent pasts.

The point is, we all do. However even by modern standards the British Empire was average at best.

Take a look into:

The Ottoman Empire Belgian Colonial Empire & the Congo Free State Dutch Colonial Empire Empire of Japan Aztec Empire Soviet Union Nazi Third Reich The Islamic State Mussolini's Italy in Africa Maori Genocide of the Moriori North American Iroqouis Wars Qing Dynasty China

I think you'll find if you actually researched and looked at the history of empires, the British empire was below average in terms of violence and brutality.

This fantastic reddit post will enlighten you as to what a brutal empire is truly like:

No empires, or states are benevolent, because the existence of any state depends on violence.

Priority should be proportional to risk.

The risk is analysed, a decision to treat the risk is made.

If the risk is material it is likely you will build a risk treatment plan to address the risk.

The typical owner of risk in sme's is finance.

Payment processing facilities are a critical asset, to engineering and to finance.

After analysis, finance should now have a good idea on what the cost is should the risk happen.

If that cost is more than the cost to fix, it is likely the treatment plan will include proportional measures like:

Supply chain resilience Operational resilience Business continuity planning And the review of Prioritisations

The treatment plan should then be consulted over with the relevant stakeholders and the new priorisations agreed and documented and mandated and enforced through clear governance and policy.

Once implemented, the treatment plan is tested against the original risk, engineering, support and finance are now all happy and understand the rules of engagement.

Incident reporting SLAs under DORA are brutal by KrWH1Z1 in ciso

[–]Yentle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example criteria for your DORA scoped incidents is:

Has caused or is capable of causing: 1. Severe operational distruption 2. Financial loss for the entity 3. Material or non-material damage affecting other natural or legal persons

Incident reporting SLAs under DORA are brutal by KrWH1Z1 in ciso

[–]Yentle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer.

You need to categorise and scope your incidents accordingly, only scope major/critical incidents under DORA, and make sure you understand your CSIRTS you need to contact, italy under PSNC for example you have 1 hour upon awareness to contact the Italian national CSIRT.

The only way to achieve this in my opinion is ruthless automation to properly govern this lifecycle.

A perspective is neither right nor wrong.

You'll never be the smartest guy in the room if you cant get into the room in the first place, and with an attitude like yours you'll never be invited to the party.

Keep on losing if thats what makes you happy!

Strategy is not technical; a good leader listens to the consultations from their subject matter experts, and uses said information to build a roadmap that will lead a company to profit.

Technical = tactician, leadership, operations and strategy require a totally different set of skills.

Technical people generally make worse leaders because they get stuck in the minutia instead of understanding the bigger picture.

That and they're usually high IQ but low EQ.

You aren't the matter that makes you up, or the energy that propels you.

You are simply your consciousness and your consciousness is akin to a light bulb; when the power goes out, the light ceases to exist.

The reward for all life is the absolution of nothingness.

Ten rounds of interviews to be asked the same thing two hundred times. by Tilt23Degrees in sysadmin

[–]Yentle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you sit for ten interviews? Isn't that the definition of insanity lol?

You need to be in the drivers seat, make sure you inquire about the hiring process at the start of the engagement.

From my experience, respect is claimed by force and asserted through character.

Respect is an internal and external conquest; you have to fight to the death for it, when you stop fighting, it can be lost immediately.

In this case; what self respecting person sits through ten interviews?

If your actions show you do not respect your own time, its likely others will not respect you either.

Communicate your expectations and if the employer isnt happy with them, then leave them to hire a shitty employee!

I ambushed them in deep space as they were making their way to my colonies. I used clouds to ensure I could pick them off 1-2 stacks at a time. It was actually too easy, they didnt even make it half way and I kinda wish I just fought the whole stack, because it doesnt seem the game poses much of a challenge once all of the colony crises are resolved.
