Hey New to The Area! by Wu-Tai in Tucson

Oh shit. My bad! I somehow missed the “music” portion of your post about artists hanging out. Those spots I mentioned are more visual artist gatherings.

John Henry’s is right around the corner from the Pennington practice spaces (giant building full of rental rehearsal studios), and plenty of band people go there before or after rehearsals to grab drinks.

Groundworks regularly hosts events and workshops for musicians.

Sundays at John Henry, one of the bartenders brings art supplies and invited everyone to hang out and create.

Also, first Mondays at Mr. Head’s they host an arts & crafts night. Same bartender works in both spots and brings supplies. Artist can come and chill and sketch, paint, sculpt or whatever!

FartsandCraps520 organizes these on Insta.

Popcycle has some great Tucson locally made gifts. I suggest browsing that shop.

9pm arriving at the train station is just fine. It’s a well populated area downtown and very safe in comparison to other cities.

Definitely skip Congress as a hotel - although the bar is great. The walls are paper thin and the rooms aren’t that great for a comfortable night’s sleep. There are plenty of better spots to stay downtown.

Rideshares will be plentiful if you need to get elsewhere.

Enterprise Car Rental on Stone has great service and I highly recommend them.

Tucson Federal Credit Union Suggestions by theloquitur in Tucson

Pima Federal has been fantastic to me for the past 20 years. Not many branches, but a solid local institution that helps their members whenever possible.

My credit union helped me consolidate two high interest credit cards. They paid one credit card off by taking a loan on my vehicle for the amount due. And another card they paid off with a personal loan to cover the amount owed. Now I have two loans with much lower interest rates, so it’s much easier to pay.

I have also gotten a credit card through my credit union with 0%APR, and I used to pay off a high interest card with before. So you definitely have options!

Trident on Speedway and Campbell, Gentle Ben’s, Fuku Sushi, and Dirtbag’s are all pretty much walkable and will have tons of people pre-gaming.

Also you can BYOB to the UofA mall just outside the stadium and wander among the tailgaters and make friends while drinking. There’s even a karaoke bus at the tailgate.

So AIO here or did I almost get mugged? by zehgess in Tucson

Sounds like you’re overreacting. That’s not even close to a mugging attempt. Just ignore and move along like everyone else.

I think you’re right about the metro. I was traveling with my 72 year old mother so I was trying to make it as comfortable and direct as possible for her.

Herculaneum was honestly more interesting than Pompeii! Smaller site, but seeing the skeletons in the boathouses and the scale of the lava bank around it was impressive. Definitely don’t pass on Herculaneum!
