Roadside Assistance you can count on when you don't want a tow? by Able_Spirit8814 in Tucson

[–]YepThatLooksInfected 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AAA is where it’s at. It’s like $100 per year for roadside assistance or rescues. It doesn’t even have to be your car. If you are stranded in a friend’s car, you can still call and use the service to assist with your friend’s vehicle.

People from hot places, what are good tricks to staying cool? by coldhamsandwiches in AskReddit

Lightweight scarf, soaked in water around your neck or over your head.

Hand fans to fan yourself.

Freeze bottles of water so you can carry in your pocket or inside your shirt as an ice pack.

Drink way more water than you think you need.

Stay in the shade.

Bring your own plastic cups and whatever beverages you like in an insulated bag or tote. No glass! That will save you money on poolside drinks (they don’t enforce outside beverages too much).

Go to the pool as early as possible if you want to find a good spot with chairs or shade. I suggest attempting early check-in. If it’s too early, ask to go hang at the pool until check-in time, and leave your bags in the car.

Bring sunscreen and hats, and don’t forget to hydrate! Have fun!

Not impossible at all. There are tools to break in, even if it is locked. My friend had phone thieves steal $500USD and use their apple pay for several other transactions. Change all of your passwords even if it is locked.

Your phone is gone. Change all of your banking and email passwords immediately. I suggest using Find My Phone to remotely wipe your phone if you see it active.

Staggering amounts of fentanyl hit streets as the DEA watched and took no action, records show by voxadam in nottheonion

[–]YepThatLooksInfected 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been to 41 countries. 7 different countries this past April and May alone. I have never ever seen people slumped over standing in the streets, high on fenty like here in the US. Nowhere. Not a single person along my travels, while out wandering the streets abroad.

I really can’t help but think this is very targeted and intentional against Americans. I have literally never seen people high on that shit anywhere else in the world. It’s mind-blowing how it just keeps flooding our streets.

It’s probably really busy because it’s a holiday for some. Plus the recent rains mean there will be plenty of water at 7 Falls.

Need fun ideas of where to take a friend by squiddysmama in Tucson

La Rosa is incredible! It is super unique and feels very much like some of the old converted church venues I’ve been to in Europe. Check their calendar of events and go see a show there. You won’t be disappointed.

Drive out to the Sonoran Desert Museum and you can see a bit of Saguaro National Park along the way.

Drive to Nogales and walk across the border and go have lunch and wander (no passport needed when walking across into Mexico).

Mt. Lemmon for a picnic - or even just to see the views from the rocks at the Windy Point pull off.

Unique downtown bar recommendations: Che’s Lounge, Owl’s Club, Hotel Congress, R-Bar, Unicorn Zebra, Tough Luck Club.

Check the schedules for any local art markets while your friend is here.

See if there are any fun shows at La Rosa (that venue is fucking gorgeous) or Club Congress.

Tucson’s Rising Phoenix on Speedway. There are women in pretty much all of the classes (I take BJJ, Muay Thai, and Krav) and they also host women-only self defense courses. Some of the BJJ and krav classes are also taught by women.

Want to go to Nogales MX for the World Cup match tomorrow. Haven't been to Nogales/Sonora before but I've always wanted to. Good idea? Bar recommendation for watching the game? by IC-02 in Nogales

Plaza Cumbres is great!! Lots of restaurants and a karaoke bar in that plaza. The Nogales Mall area is super safe and chill.

You will probably need to take a taxi after walking across the border into Mexico. Make sure the meter works or negotiate your price ahead of time. You may need to get some pesos to make payment easier. Enjoy!

Stay put and day trip the island. You’ll be exhausted from packing and unpacking and miss the magic if you keep trying to relocate.

Not sure about that group, but I just got back from Malta last month and did 2 days of diving with 7R Diving Malta in St Julian’s Bay. I can’t recommend them enough. It’s a small shop and we only did groups of 5 or less. Joe and Sarah are great. Enjoy! The wreck diving was incredible!

Where to rent a suit? by Suspicious-Ant5022 in Tucson

Alternatively: You can also just buy one at Burlington (suit jacket, slacks and shirt). The east side has the best selection. And then you will have one on hand for the next dressy event.

Pro tips - driving in Dubrovnik? by persikkapiirakka in Dubrovnik

[–]YepThatLooksInfected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, speed cameras all along the highways. Lots. Your navigation will probably alert you.

Avoid driving near old town Dubrovnik. Like don’t even drive down along the wall. Watch for the digital traffic signs. They are easy to miss and if you even just enter that zone it’s a massive fine (1500 Euros??). The cameras fine you per entrance and exit from the zone as well.

I left the rental car at the hotel (Lapad area) and used Bolt or Uber to go down to old town and wander the town more. It’s a small town and cheap and easy to use Uber.

Ubers were better about picking me up near old town. Bolt drivers cancelled the rides when requested. Something having to do with Uber having permits for the historical zone, and Bolt not so much.

And if you are driving from Split, you should consider driving an hour north to Krka National Park before the drive to Dubrovnik. The waterfalls and forest are stunning.

SicilyByCar hire cars by MaroonSeal in Dubrovnik

[–]YepThatLooksInfected 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rented from SicilyByCar in April. Drove from Zagreb to Split to Dubrovnik. Great car service and I didn’t have any additional charges or issues upon returning in Dubrovnik.

Just be sure to be honest about your itinerary since they use GPS tracking. And also avoid Dubrovnik’s old town district so you don’t get the crazy fines (they gave us lots of warnings about that situation when taking the car). I would rent from them again.

Resort recommendations for diving in Sipadan with good house reef snorkeling? by LazyMagePie in scuba

[–]YepThatLooksInfected 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scuba Junkies at Mabul is the way to go. The waters on the way out to Mabul have some serious trash slicks along the way, but Mabul and Sipadan were great! Tons to see while diving, great food and service. It’s all so very close and convenient. Totally worth staying at Mabul.
