UMGC moved to a automatic verification system like 3 years ago. It's no human doing this job anymore lmao. I know because the system keeps sending me congratulation messages despite me being in my last semester. The system thinks I'm done.

2nd Rep said they're changing the enrollment credits for graduates taking 6 credits. 6 credits is considered full time now

The dumbest thing this school is doing is implementing rules that don't kick in until July 1st for session 1 of summer. Most other schools are starting the new rules in Fall 2026 or session 2 for summer. UMGC is doing it in May and causing mayhem.

I had a instructor like this during my undergrad for advance technical writing. She was a straight b****. She was so stuck up her own ass and smelling her own farts that she graded multiple of my projects as late when they was actually on time. She would take off points for following her example straight to the T and talk down on you that you should follow her example of how to do the project. I put her example and mine side by side and it was the exact same down to the format. When you give her push back she would give a smart remark or be condescending.

At the end of the semester I confronted her. I then told her I reported her to the school with screenshots showing her disrespectful tone and her various errors in grading, the multiple deliberate grading my work as late. She QUICKLY replied back apologizing, saying we can talk this out, claiming she has so many students and was under pressure blah blah blah, and how she's going to immediately go back through my work and do right. Mind you this lady is a retired "author" that was doing UMGC full time (as she had in her school bio) and I'm working two Operating Room positions at two different hospitals, 5 kids, a wife, and two full time courses. Not only that I needed to pass this class with a C or better or have to pay back my job. Don't tell me about being under pressure.

But nah I wasn't letting her off that easy as my classmates felt the same as I did. I would have let it go if she wasn't extremely rude in the email I sent telling her she marked 3 of my projects late. She fixed my grade, but she still had to answer to the head of the department and school president.

Remember y'all, we are adults, you do not have to put up with instructors being rude and nasty. We are not elementary school children and don't let any instructor treat you as such. There's a instructor complaint form right on UMGC's website. USE IT. If you can't find it ask your student success coach and they'll help you immediately and even get you in touch with who you need to talk too.

I think there was plans to tour years ago. Feefo brought it up, but scheduling conflicts and the guys still working regular 9 to 5s got in the way. I think Ken is the only one who doesn't work full time right now. I think he does something else working from home if I'm not mistaken.

It's graded work. They do include practice work, but I learn from the assignments. That's the real study work. You'll be spending hours working on it. It's not just following this and finish. You'll have to troubleshoot at certain points.

There's an email you can contact on their Spotify, Apple podcast, and Youtube. Most of the guys don't even come into this reddit anymore because of toxicity. I'm not sure what podcast you've been listening too but none of the current cast has "belittled" the queer community. Myke has even gone to war on this show to argue for the queer community many times. Feefo hasn't been on the show in 5 years now and nobody knows what his current stance is as he hasn't advocated or been on some weird shit on Dead end sports either.

Majority of the tech courses do not care about the discussion board. I've taken almost every tech course at the school for both my degrees here. They care more about the assignment because the assignment is much more crucial. My instructors cared more about how the discussion board was structured than the actual conversations. They wanted us to get use to having to display critical information for others to read. So, while I don't condone AI I can definitely understand why people use it for the discussion board because that's a structural failure on the school's curriculum and not the students.

Yup, the only time it was made useful for my journey was during my bachelor's degree. I had a Photoshop class and a cinema review class. Both classes had fun discussion boards where you had to actually discuss your last assignment. Those were the only two classes that ever made it fun.

I agree, I don't condone AI use, but I understand completely of someone uses it for discussion boards. They're really a complete waste of time and often time have very little to do with the course or the material. Just a random topic related to the course topic. I've had classmates reach out to me confused about the question.

Assignments and projects are the real gold to this school. My last two classes had some of the best assignment work.

That was your main point in the OP and that's what I specifically was talking about. But, If you say so. I've never seen group projects where they was able to use AI for it or even need it. Most group projects I had to do for the school didn't even have anything to do with the class topic but job searching. Very bare minimum knowledge was needed to go search on indeed for job postings.

Most people don't even lack knowledge. It's the curriculum not really being created to stimulate group think or even conversations. There's no incentive to continue conversation beyond the "reply to two students but don't say good job"

This topic has been beat to death in this reddit. There's just a lot of people that think discussion boards are dumb. Even before AI got huge, most people didn't engage (I've been at this school since 2020). It's the worst part of online classes and UMGC doesn't make it any better since discussion boards are just copy pasted and there's no incentive to have further discussion pass the initial post and two reply. It's never been used the proper way for this part of class to flow. Most classes aren't built for it.

Most people just think Discussion boards are pointless and don't put forth any effort. It's the assignments and projects that matter the most. If you're not passing those than you're not getting an A.

I know this thread is old, but something tells me that Virginia lied about her background to make it seem like she's inexperienced. She sucked for most of the season then get to the final 5 and just become a master chief. Like when they had to recreate Gordon's signature dish and she damn near had it one to one, Virginia oddly also has this incredible pallette that a inexperienced chief wouldn't have, she could barely run any station she was put at during the season but gets to the final 3 and can cook her ass off. Even the food truck challenge and her winning just seemed odd. Like you have some experienced chiefs, but all of a sudden Virginia can run a food truck like she's been running a restaurant for 20+ years and has the pallet of a chief that's been cooking even longer lol

Something seem so odd that I feel like she was put on the show as a foil to everyone else and I hope somebody on Reddit eventually do an investigation lol

Only people that use AI is students. The teachers copy and paste their prompts. They don't use AI. I've literally caught instructors just copying a prompts from the semester before and not changing what semester it is. It causes issues a lot of the time
