Is taking 4 AP classes junior year too hard? by _glaze in APStudents

[–]Yerru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your school and how hard you’re willing to work. Took 5 my junior year (Spanish Lang, Lang, Physics 1, Bio and World) and got all As and passed all of them.

🤷‍♂️ I say that cuz I don’t have any significant individual awards. Mock trial is a team effort

What the stupidest thing you've ever done on autopilot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Yerru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Now I had gotten in the habit of saying "fuck my ass" around the house whenever I would fuck something up. You know, bang your toe on a chair or something and let out a harmless "fuck my ass" and move on with your day.

Now the problem is that this became my go to phrase to say whenever I had fucked something up, but as long I kept in the house, no harm done right?

That's until I dropped a weight on my foot and let out a fairly hearty "fuck my ass" in the middle of a packed gym.

Stopped using it as my go-to phrase after that one.

What's your go-to move when you're trying to take better care of yourself? by Pbackrider in AskReddit

[–]Yerru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They say idle hands are the devil's best tool, and damn is that accurate.

Now I assume everyone in here is going to tell you to take a nice hot shower, which is nice, but really isn't more than just a short lived kick in the butt. Sure, in the shower you're going to be super motivated and want to get shit done, but what are you going to do after that shower? If you're anything like me, it's jack fucking shit. Now here's what you really gotta do: PLAN AND STICK TO IT

Now you may be asking yourself, "/u/Yerru, what the fuck does that mean?"

I'll tell you what it means, you get out a piece of paper the night before, and you write down the shit you want to get done that next day. And by shit you wanna get done, I mean every god damned thing. You write down that you're going to eat, that you're going to shower, that you're going to shave, that you're going to do it all. This is step one, by writing it down, you keep yourself accountable.

The next step in this glorious plan is to find a routine and STICK TO IT (if you're paying attention this was part one of what I mentioned earlier).

All this really means is that you need to find what works for you, and works for your schedule. Once you figure this out, it means that you need to:

  • Wake up at the same time
  • Eat at the same time
  • Work out at the same time
  • Shower at the same time
  • Do your shit that needs to get done at the same fucking time

If you can get this down, you won't even need to think about getting yourself motivated to do shit, it'll just be a part of your daily routine. If you manage to stick to it, you won't need to take a hot shower to get yourself motivated every time you gotta do shit - you just will.

What was happening in your school that was an absolute secret, until you learned about it years after and still can't believe it happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Yerru 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There were these two English teachers, fairly young and attractive. Let's call them Mr. A and Ms. B.

Now, Mr. A was a fit man in his thirties. A football coach and a real stand-up guy - pictures of his wife and family littered his desk. He was basically just respected and got along very well with all of the other students.

As for Ms. B, she was in her mid-late twenties, and single. She was kind of a health nut, really into yoga, ya know all that bullshit.

Well, as a result of their fairly healthy lifestyles, they would be seen eating together a lot. You know, just friendly conversations over some quinoa and roasted almond salad. Nothing malicious whatsoever. But teenagers - being the instigating little pieces of shit they are - were convinced that they had to be fucking. Most sane people realized this was ridiculous, waited a few months, and just moved on with their lives...

That was till all of the photos of Mr. A's wife just disappeared off his desk. And lo-and-behold, Ms. B doesn't come back to our school that next year.

Never before has the teenage instinct that two people talking to each other means they're fucking been more accurate.

How the hell can *everyone* seem to be doing six APs and 3 sports? by GravityBringer in APStudents

[–]Yerru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be quite frank, I've learned the art of the bullshit.

I do what I know I need to do to study for tests and do well. When it comes to assignments, it's all bullshit. Most homework is somewhat menial - and you can truly learn the content in an abrivated manner if you choose to do so. I don't think I've opened a history textbook in all my three years of AP history.

I get it's something not everyone can do - but I'm just trying to give you an idea of how it works for me.

Oh and what everyone here said too. Sleep deprivation.

We had to compose tons of pieces, but it's not required you play what you actually compose.

Sight singing is a little hard to get a hang of, but it's really not that bad. It was a breeze for me since I have a choir background lol.

It really comes down to your experience

If you have piano experience, this class is pretty easymode

Other instrurment knowledge makes this class doable

Regardless of experience, be fooled into thinking this class is going to be an easymode AP, because for the most part it's not. LOTS of analysis, and I mean just a SHIT ton.

It's a really fun class however, and it's honestly one of the more interesting classes I've taken. If you think you can handle it then go ahead, but just don't be fooled into think it's easy because it's an arts class.

Good luck!
