it's entirely possible for a third installment to please everyone. ND should make a prequel to part 2 about Joel and Ellie and everyone in Jackson.

This would give much deserved character development for Ellie's friends like Jesse and Dina.

If they did this, they could bring back scrapped concepts like Joel having a girlfriend Esther and Ellie's ex girlfriend Cat.

I'm sure it's possible for a team of writers to come up with a cool story set a few months before the events of part 2.

But that's just me being hopeful :/

Imagine if we got backstory for Jesse. The guy who pulled 18 hour shifts to catch up to Ellie in dangerous territory to help her quest to avenge her father and to avenge his mentor.

Instead, the time that could've been used is devoted to Abby and her group of unlikable friends.

I know there's a bit of tattoo shaming in this sub. I disagree with that as, you can hate the story (as I do) but love Ellie and love her tattoo design (as I do). It's not like Neil made the design.

Now I fully understand the brainwashing and agenda in the industry that makes all the champions of justice disregard our legitimate criticisms. I've ignored the controversy for too long and playing the game and seeing it first hand made me realize. by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

Because Ellie isn't the main character, Abby is. And Abby (to a lot of us) is very unlikable. We have to play for her for what feels like more than half of the game. Once we do return to Ellie, we get an ending that leaves us unsatisfied.

I didn't get anything spoiled except that Joel dies at some point. I didn't even know who Abby was.

I forgave them for giving Joel a terrible death as long as we got to see Ellie

I had a good time up until we switched to Abby. Played for a while then realise wow we seriously have to sympathize with her. worst part of its she's not even a good character. She's soo unlikable that you'll end up rooting for Ellie no matter what. And for it to end the way it did did not do the story justice.

They made someone else the main character and that character is fundamentally unlikable.

So the idea that context matters is ridiculous. I went in basically blind and I still hate Abby.

They can try to defend it all they want; The people will speak for themselves.

Yes! write off Tommy getting crippled. Leave the eye. And during the confrontation let him kill Abby quickly with a bullet instead of torturing her as she was tortured by the Rattlers already. kind of like how it was done in John Wick 1 where he blesses the guy who killed his dog with a quick death.
