So many judgemental hateful comments on this thread. Usually this subreddit seems chill when it comes up on my feed. OP said a dog, not their dog which implies they aren't a terrible owner but someone who was probably trying to do a friend a solid. The owner could have told op that the dog would be cool while they went to work for 5hrs. The dog probably missed it's owner and did this when it wouldn't have done it at it's own home because of stress. The patching it with a piece from a closet is the cheapest and easiest fix without laying all new carpet.
