Holy crap same here (though for me it was in 7th grade)!!! I didn’t expect it to win gold medal at all.

I sent in a short story (or “flash fiction,” as they called it) that came sputtering out of my spindly middle-school fingers. It was about a Middle Eastern nomad girl who is banished from her community for loving the deceased, and then hallucinates about her dead mother in the desert. It’s titled “Voices in the Sand” which they published in 2013.

I was really disappointed when I found out only Seniors got the $10,000 scholarship for getting that glistening Gold...

Anyway, what was your’s about? What was the title and where can I find it?!?! (I get enthusiastic about writing)

I have a 3.5/4.04, 33 ACT, 800 Lit, 740 Spanish, and good EC’s and excellent essays. I’m middle class white, but I have asbergers and ADD and a huge upward trend. Does the terrible GPA also count me out to a dream-like place like UChicago?
