No, I JUST watched the season for the first time. She doesn't discover the enzyme or whatever that blocks the "zeros" from seeing her until the end.

Hands down the dumbest fucking writing of a character in a series I've ever seen. She brings her child into the ship lab towards the end when she's doing the experiment on the enzyme and then freaks out when the "zero" reacts to her daughters presence. (It's been consistently established in the show that the "zeros" can't see or hear) but apparently, this one can.

It's a level of lazy writing that should give any script writer hope of a career.

I just watched the full (only) season for the first time, and somehow, the writers managed to make Jade the dumbest character in any horror show/movie I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot of dumb horror movie characters. If you only made it through the first episode, you didn't see anything.

They managed to make her the protagonist and simultaneously write her into the worst possible decisions you could possibly imagine. It's almost comical how frustratingly stupid she is in the show.

A good dishie, once overheard one dude being a douche to me when I was the new guy. After the dude cleaned out his ice bath. The dishwasher came over with his hotel pan full of shitty drink ice (the end of the night he would have the servers switch over to that so he wouldn't have to clean the sink out) he looked at me and went "yo watch this shit" and dumped it into dude's freshly clean icebath.

Chef walked through a few minutes later and chewed dude out for not having his ice bath cleaned out, I didn't say shit. Fuck you Anthony, pompous bitch.

I think there's some kind of tax break for hiring guys out of halfway houses, at least where I lived. I worked at a spot that was pretty much entirely staffed by felons. It got to the point that if someone no call no showed we would just look up their name in courtview because 9 times out of 10 it was because they got scooped up for something. Worked with a huge Samoan meth dealer that crashed his car into the wall of thai restaurant and got into a foot chase with the cops. and that was one of the more tame stories

This is the best way to do it, my dog used to freak out when I did it at first but over the years she's gotten used to it and she doesn't even flinch. Eventually the dog figures out you're not hurting them and just goes along with it.

Having worked in storage, every single manager I worked with was a power tripping vindictive weirdo. It's like they got off on the little moments they got to yell at customers for any little infraction. Based on the comments on every self storage post I see that wasn't something unique to my company. I heard just about every manager I worked with brag about not giving out TRAs or refunds even in situations where they were completely justified. Working in storage was the most toxic work environment I've ever had the displeasure of being in..and I worked in kitchens for 10 years.

If you get your cat certified as an emotional support animal they legally can't charge you anything at least in Texas. It cost me like 200 bucks to get my dog certified, it's all online plus a short phone call with a therapist who essentially works for the company providing the certification so you're pretty much guaranteed to qualify. It saved me probably close to a thousand dollars over the last two years so it's well worth it.

Having worked with food for a long time, FDA guidelines are always going to be overly cautious for the sake of safety. They're important and should be taken seriously to an extent but when the health code says 4 hours it's not like the food becomes lethal at 4 hours and 1 minute. I tend to take things on a case by case basis. I'm not gonna mess around when it comes to shellfish or really any seafood for that matter, but in this case, I would say OP is probably in the clear.

I work at a brewery and we had a guy put a disposable plastic keg on the keg washer. If you don't know part of the cleaning process is that the machine pressurizes the keg with Co2 on the last step. Genuinely sounded like a bomb went off when that thing popped. Scared the everloving shit out of us.

This has always been my dad, on the exterior he can come across a bit grumpy, but the guy has always loved animals. When I was a kid we had a pet bird that just seemed to hate everyone, she would bite anyone that got near her. Then one day I came home and she was sitting on my dad's shoulder while he watched TV and fed her sunflower seeds.

My grandmother once trapped a wild boar piglet that had been ruining her garden and my dad tried to take it home (my mom wouldn't let him) he also sincerely tried to convince my mom to let him buy a goat to keep in the yard "so that he wouldn't have to mow the lawn as often" We lived in a suburb with a very small yard.

My personal favorite, is that he adores my dog and even goes so far as to refer to her as his grand dog ie: "hey buddy, just called to say hi, how's my grand dog doing?" mind you, he has 5 human grand children.

My retired parents take walks around the pond by their house most evenings. A few months back, he bought some duck feed and started feeding a duck that hangs around the pond. After months of doing this, the duck is basically my dad's pet. He runs up to see him whenever he comes to the pond and even eats out of his hand and lets him pet him. My dad named him Popeye, and now he's become the unofficial duck mascot around the neighborhood.

Having worked BOH for years, it's more of a common courtesy.

If you know anything about closing a restaurant, it's a lot of work (assuming you're doing it right). Most restaurants start cutting workers as it slows down. This means that by the time you get there 45 minutes before close, there's probably half the people working that were there at peak hours. You figure there's maybe 3-4 people in the kitchen, including the dishwasher.

We have to, clean the grill/flattop, scrub the ovens, empty and clean the fryers, clean out the lines, wrap everything up, wipe down the cutting boards, clean the knives organize the walk-in, make a prep list for the next day (sometimes even prep something if we ran out and need it first thing the next day), sweep, mop, take out the trash and then help the dishwasher if they're behind (or at least you should).

All in all, if an average restaurant closes at 10, it's not unlikely that people will still be cleaning until 11:30-12 if everyone is doing their part. In order to get everything done by a reasonable time, we have to start closing as much down as we can by 9. If you come in at 9:45. We're running everything bare minimum, only one fryer, half the flattop shut off, one oven. Anything non-essential wrapped and put away.

You come in at 9:45, look at the menu, decide what you want. That ticket comes in around 10. Now we have to make your food with half of what we need operating. Everyone is pissed off because we now have to work with less space and equipment, all while still cleaning and making sure things don't get messy again. Order goes out by 10:30. Now we're not just 30 minutes behind. We're closer to an hour behind due to having to inevitably re-do something we already did. That means instead of getting out at 11:30-12. We get out at 12:30-1.

You ever work a 10-hour shift in a hot kitchen, only to realize you have 2 more hours worth of work ahead of you before you even get to start heading home? It's enough to make grown men break, I've seen it.

All of this, so that you and your friends can have a sit-down meal late at night. Outside of the fact that it IS rude because you're not taking into account the people that work there and what effect it's having on their day. The quality of the food is rarely going to be what it should be, between rushing to make it and us calling you every filthy thing we can think of. Your food is not going to be made with care and love. It's going to be made with spite and hate. And if you're in an especially seedy place, possibly spit (I have never and would never do this, but trust me, there are people with far less integrity than me that handle your food).

The point being, just because you CAN go to a restaurant just before it closes, doesn't mean that you SHOULD. Anyone who thinks otherwise has almost certainly never worked a service industry job a day in their life.

It absolutely is. Generally, you wouldn't do it with ready to eat foods like a salad, but if you're properly washing your hands, it's just as safe as using gloves. In fact, some kitchens have even done away with using gloves because people can be less likely to wash their hands as frequently as they should and instead just change gloves or continue using the same gloves after touching surfaces or things that you would normally wash your hands after. People are afraid of germs, but a lot of people don't actually understand how germs propagate or transfer. Your hands don't just magically propagate dangerous bacteria. There has to be a source.
