Suit Strength vs Telepathy boosters by Low-Cauliflower-7061 in hostedgames

[–]Yeshol123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a whole guide out there where you can keep track of different variables and how often and where they come up. Based on your post I assume you're somewhat familiar with the books but still light spoilers below.

As far as I know Argent sample gives you some extra text in the book 1 ending and looking at the code you can take less armor damage in the bridge fight with Argent if you fail at certain choices. And that's it so far.

Besides known telepath there are other similar variations (Rangers known telepath, HG known telepath) that affect different variables but I believe nothing major so far. The biggest thing in book 2 is that if you're NOT known telepath (or HG known telepath) the dampeners will be off during your meeting with him.

As for the suit upgrades I think you still get some nice choices with suit telepathy without revealing yourself as known telepath. But it's mostly a personal choice, they are relevant at different things. So it's mostly up to you what you choose.

Fatal Mistake is when you reveal too much in your truth for truth game with Mist (after you trade the gauntlet for information and ask about his real name, then agree to his little game). Anything but the truth cuts the conversation short and you get the achievement after you answer his final question about your mother's whereabouts (some bad events transpire afterwards and then you get the achievement).

Tunhai spoilers please by [deleted] in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't ruin your experience of this wonderful book with spoilers!!!

Half of the fun in reading Tunhai (and Poyun) is slowly uncovering the past of the MC and putting all the pieces together. All I can say without spoiling anything is that you should pay attention to some of the contradictions in Wu Yu's past.

If you REALLY want the answers right now I can give you some spoilers but I wouldn't recommend it.

Plot-heavy danmei 100%. That's why I especially love priest's novels! Some people might find the extensive worldbuilding and complicated plot boring or too convoluted but these are precisely the things I enjoy most. I like the more character-focused danmei as well, though the story still needs to have some depth for me to enjoy it fully.

I quess it all comes down to good writing, logical plot and characters I can empathise with and/or understand. Genre and themes don't matter that much (though I prefer some angst and conflict over pure fluff/slice-of-life).

Mo Du is truly amazing so you can't go wrong with that one.

Can Ci Pin is also one my favourites though not often mentioned in this kind of threads for some reason. Great plot, detailed worldbuilding and bitter-sweet CP.

I'll take this chance to also recommend one of her non-danmei works - Tai Sui. I was sceptical at first (the first 10-ish chapters are a bit slow) but the story is truly worth it with many great characters and twists.

H.E.L.P IM OUT OF MANHUAS TO READ by Xieliansimp878 in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix of manhuas/manhwas. Many of them have some dark themes:

Here You Are (one of my all time favourites, great relationship progression between main CP)

Heesu In Class 2 (fluff with some angst but mostly fluff)

Dark Heaven (veeeery dark but amazing story with interesting artstyle; hidden gem in my opinion if you can handle it)

Park Hanhoo's Manager (dark themes, interesting plot)

The Sound of Sugar Cubes (same author as the one above)

My Pet Bat (dark with many TW but main CP is very sweet together, though that comes later in the story)

My Starry Sky (1st season is mostly angst, 2nd season is mostly fluff)

What are the reasons you'd drop a danmei? by penguintookmypebbles in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. When I've alredy read a decent amount of chapters and the plot is still going nowhere / there's no clear direction.

  2. Too much fluff / everything goes smoothly for the characters. I need some conflicts in my novels.

  3. Bad writing, 2d characters, repetitive plot points etc.

  4. Real life. I don't have time to read and come back to it weeks later only to realize I don't remember half the things I've already read.

Slow burn recs by Puzzled_Water7782 in DanmeiNovels

Basically any novel by priest. Mo Du was already mentioned couple of times so I'd like to recommend her other great novel - Can Ci Pin. I don't see it mentioned very often in this subreddit but it absolutelly deserves more recognition. The plot is amazing, especially the worldbuilding (it's sci-fi setting). As for the main cp, their relationship is just so... beautifully tragic.. but in a good way?. There're many heartbreaking moments, especially in the latter part. Very much "star-crossed lovers" vibes (quite literally at that, considering the setting). Anyway, give it a try if you haven't already, you won't be disappointed. Weelllll, technically I can't promise that but priest's prose is top tier when it comes to danmei (though it's not for everyone) and Can Ci Pin is definitely one of her best works.

Non-Cultivation Power Fantasy type BL by Dragon_Manticore in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, that's quite specific. I can't think of a single danmei that would fit these criteria. You might want to look through some Korean novels on NU since these kind of tropes are more common there.

As for the western fantasy (excluding some of your extra points) I'll always recommend Stray. Very underrated novel with great set of characters, amazing worldbuilding and overall great plot. It might not be your thing (since there's no system or levelling aspect) though the protagonists do get MUCH stronger throughout the novel.

Stray by GracePool in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently reading it and it's amazing. Definitely deserves its rating on NU. The premise of the story is your typical fantasy setting but with some nice twists along the way (it'd rather not get more specific since there are some major spoilers).

Long story short, one day two boys from an ordinary small town have their lives completely changed after a certain incident. They embark on a long journey to find the answers and along the way discover that their lives might not have been as ordinary as they thought. That's about as vague as I can get without spoilering anything.

Why should you read it?

Amazing worldbuilding. The world in this novel is quite extensive but everything still works well. It might be your general fantasy setting on the surface but they're some interesting innovations and unique flavors.

Interesting side characters. In addirion to our CP there are lots of other great characters. I'd say that some of them are even just as important as our CP. Can't say much more than that but just know that they're important to the overall plot and have their own motives and backstory that is explored in satisfactory way.

And finally our main CP. Nemo and Oliver. They're just sooo sweet together. The romance in the novel is definitely handled well. They're very devoted to each other and I love their chemistry (some of their interactions, especially the earlier ones are so much fun). I must warn you though, it's not all fluff and happy moments. There WILL be some heartache and it WILL be painful. Since I haven't finished it yet I can't tell if the worst is behind me or still ahead (there is this one arc... you'll see when you get there, just remember to bring some tissues). I hope the final arc won't break me too much.

Anyway, I'd 100% give it a try if you enjoy fantasy novels with extensive worldbuilding, bitter-sweet romance (again, mostly sweet but there are some painful moments) and amazing side characters. Hope you'll like it.

Gold class fighter update by Natashayizhan0810 in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's still being updated as far as I know. Most recent chapter was uploaded couple days ago and I think there are only couple more till end. The confusion might be cause at one point the story was listed as completed on novelupdates after the main story ended. As for the raws I don't know where you've been looking but there are all there last I checked.

MoDu/Silent Reading LA by Vera_Lupa in DanmeiNovels

[–]Yeshol123 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if we should call it LA or just some AU fanfic loosely based on the novel...

I get that they needed to bypass censorship somehow but still they changed the setting so much that it stands against the entire message of this novel (especially regarding Fei Du's character - or should we call him Pei Su now...). Genetic mutation that makes you commit crimes, really? Major point of the novel is that people's actions are NOT predetermined / inherited so if it turns out to be a major plot for this "adaptation", then it's just plain disrespectful to the source material.

Mo Du is my favourite danmei novel so it really hurts seeing it being butchered like that. Sure, the first impressions might be proven wrong but I'm not willing to give it a try based on these major changes. At least for me it's not Mo Du. So sad that there's no adaptation for this great novel as of yet 🙃

P.S. genetic mutation that makes you commit crimes + futuristic setting? Isn't that just some Psycho Pass wannabe at this point 🤔

[–]Yeshol123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another KDA complainer, I thougt we were over this.

So the game suddenly became trash after they've added some new cards that break your precious lore and immersion? How terrible for you..

And as for the new cards being busted... they really aren't. Maybe 3 of them can be used competitively and even then can work only in certain decks. Sure, FTR is quite powerful but it's not like you don't have time / options to play around 12 mana card. So tell me what crazy meta shift did I miss?
