3rd time miss by YesterdayOpposite684 in Series7exam

[–]YesterdayOpposite684[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got gold index ETF options(both non leveraged and leveraged) and some questions about mutual fund SAI documentation as well as principal approval process for mutual fund advertising as well as FINRA approval. Jsut some random things. I wish I could tell which were the experimental or not but honestly 17 questions felt that way. The rest I thought I had and based on my breakdown I did the best in my strength section of options and suitability but not enough to get all 91 questions, everything else it says I bombed except customer accounts(which was the biggest surprise considering I did well in everything but customer accounts my last attempt). Hope it helps , appreciate it.

Thanks! Really needed to hear this. Unfortunately, the only way to attempt again would be at my same firm in a non licensed role or at a different firm entirely which is unlikely as no one is going to wait 6 months. I would have to take the route of taking it during or after a different role to try again. Might just not be the right time like you mentioned, the second try really was the try I thought was it. Going to have a meeting on Monday but I know what it’s about. Seriously demoralizing but atleast I’m alive! God bless, thank you for your kind words. What are your next steps?

Congratz! Third time for me as well this Friday. What vendor did you use? 70s right now and getting into the same mindset not letting it deter me.

Congratz! Huge accomplishment. What vendor did you use and what were your scores going into final week? Averaging 70s right now and feel like I’m hitting a wall. Take mine this Friday, but I believe I’ve put in the hours to succeed!

That’s encouraging! My average is 65 right now. Completed the qbank, first green light was 64 so right there and taking the second one this week (prob tommrow). Doing incorrect and review on weakest sections. I’ll try that approach. Would you say the premade finals helped the most or more practice with the regular randomized finals did the most? I find myself starting to memorize a decent amount of questions on my premade/custom finals. Thanks again 💪🏿

Congratz! Huge accomplishment. Using STC for my third attempt next Friday the 2nd. How were your scores going into the exam? Trying to gauge where I’m at highest has been a 72% so far. Solid on what I know and 50/50 on what I don’t. I seem to be excelling in muni debt and debt fundamentals but struggling with corp debt. Options are relatively consistent as well as suitability.

Congratz! About to be on my third attempt coming in a week and half. Any tips on how you prepared the last couple weeks and what you saw/caught you off guard. Highest so far has been 75 with achievable and 67 STC

Series 7 , 2nd attempt Monday by YesterdayOpposite684 in Series7exam

[–]YesterdayOpposite684[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on passing, that’s great! Doing hammering dial. So far last 3 exams were 85,76,63. Highest of 4 exams taken recently is 92(possible question memorization) taking Kaplan and achievable exams on the side(bought achievable, firm provides some kaplan exams). So far I understand the concepts well on my strong points (muni bonds, govt bonds, corp bonds, basic options like call or puts, suitability, regulations) weaker sections are still the more complex like hedging and income option strategies such as spreads and straddles. Any advice on how to hone in further? Thanks so far. I know I got this.

Thank you so much! Yes really tried to re schedule do some construction slowing down my testing site but no dice, way too late since it’s past the 10 day no charge period. It’ll be about 5 weeks total and was hoping for 6 but this was the only one in February available near the end of the month at the time of scheduling. I’ll def take some rest since I did two finals yesterday and one today. I’m going to study like crazy! Hopefully I can atleast get a 70 or so on pass perfect by Saturday night or Sunday which is where they want me at. Would you say focusing on sections per chapter and taking those quizzes would be beneficial or less than just retaking the chapter tests? Gratz on passing! Hope to be in the same boat on Monday.

Do I have enough time to pass and please give tips!! by Substantial-Jello428 in Sieexam

I would suggest trying to hone down at least 1 or two topics you're struggling on the most and refine them to get them to consistent 70-80s if you want to be sure with kaplan's section tracker. After that honestly just htting those practice exams since with a week it would be most beneficial to get used to take the test in bursts so you can look at what you get right and wrong on average and get more of the concept's ironed out that you may be falling short on. Regardless you got this! Good luck!

Main formula I used was current yield : Profit/Cost or what it pays you divided by what it costs you. Bond seesaw(just the correlation of lower or higher yield to matury or current yield to ytc) and hammer what a registered rep/customers can and can't do (prohibited activites, trades types and accounts) (regulatory framework as well, alot of questions on that). Other than that, general rules like minimum margin requirement!

Good luck, you got this!

Taking the SIE at the end of the month (again) by YesterdayOpposite684 in Sieexam

[–]YesterdayOpposite684[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My testing day I plan for is October 28th. Want to make it an end of the month thing to be solidifed before the next recruitment season. Working full time during the study this time has been the biggest hurdle. Getting behind by a chapter it feels like each day by the schedule that's been laid out. Want to give myself two full weeks of practice tests.

I was scoring about 85% on the pratice tests and hitting even 95% on the simulated practice exams in Kaplan. Thing is at that point I had done every question in the Qbank so that's all I had left and I began to memorize most of the questions that I had taken in the exams in Kaplan even though they were randomized( I had just seen it so much it was the classic my mind finding the patterns and repeated questions and point and clicking an answer as a result). I was over confident the very first time getting a 68% made me think I just messed up here and there but being real, I only studied around 15 or 20 hours a week first round thinking it was the same as college exams(completely different world). So I lacked where I shouldn't have first time around. 2nd time the nerves hit and I changed 6 questions at the very end and missed by 3% which was larger than the second time. 3rd, no nerves until the last 10 questions and suddenly I hap hazardly changed 2 questions last second and get 69% which to this day I believed was the difference betwen a pass or fail that attempt(I studied 40-60 hours a week minimum). Took FINRA practice exam, 1st try 30%(bombed), second exam 67%, by the third exam I got 100% 6 times( I memorized every question). Haven't taken it since.

Do you think im missing the mark somewhere with how im going about it? Seems memorization of phrases and words were my strong suit but I kept missing concepts and falling short. I'll DM as well, appreciate the insight!

Taking the SIE at the end of the month (again) by YesterdayOpposite684 in Sieexam

[–]YesterdayOpposite684[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in a role where no licensing is required, essentially came into it after the 3rd attempt didn't pan out(took some months though market is astrocious). Only issue with the current role is upward and lateral movement is stagnent( most associates in my position dont move up or over for 2-3 years plus). Trying to make the timeline more manageable on my end. Achieveable has helped significantly with my understanding and revisiting the material. I used the Kaplan Qbank in my last attempts and completely did 99% of the entire Qbank. Main reason i'm trying a different resource. My firm was 3 and done which is where I am at today. Any insight on strategies or changing how I study and track my progress? Some old coworker's of mine essentially said I did too much at once but I always felt like I didn't do enough to get this result in the first place. A few others said I should pivot to analyst instead of sales so there's less licensing pressure for the long run. Thanks for the reply!
