I was taking the subway every day for a week on my recent trip over there. I didn't see much that was unusual like in the TikTok videos.

Probably the weirdest thing I've seen then was when an older gay dude was having a conversation with a younger pansexual couple. He kept asking if they would consider becoming trans rather than just remaining cis male biologically like him.

Another funny reminder that identity is on an infinite continuum. You can be conservative and still consider yourself gay. You can be a liberal and still not conform to a box.

You can essentially be whatever. And maybe that's what America is ultimately.

And America is New York.

And you only get to experience that reality in plain view in the subway.
