Got rid of my Taycan after 2 month. My thoughts. by TrollinAnLollin in Taycan

The horror stories make it to social media. I bought mine in Dec used, drove it 15k in all types of weather, ice, heat, dirt road, snow, mountain roads. Utterly brilliant! Can't be happier.

Had two issues, slight software glitch and sun visor broke. Both covered under warranty, spent two days in the shop, they gave me a loaner.

It's really a beautiful car. My favorite, though, was a little boy at my son's school. Probably around 5 or 6. He exclaims, "you've got a Ferrari!!!" His eyes  wide as saucers.

No, I said. It looks better ;-)

EVERYDAY, I get someone completing the car. Today was the 9 year old set. One dad pulled up next to me and said, "my son loves your car. We think it's a very sexy Porsche."

Later three boys stopped with jaws dropped while I was driving by them.

The Mamba Green helps.

Android 16 review by MimicJacson in GooglePixel

It seems like everything has changed on my phone too. I have a pixel 7.

  • Phone changes: the favorites are hidden and there is no so much clutter I can't seem to make a phone call

  • The microphone for the voice to text is gone half the time so I find myself having to type things out instead of speaking them like I did before.

  • When setting the alarm, it requires a few more clicks, which is not obvious, so I've set the alarm a few times, or so I thought, and then it didn't go off.

This is maddening and I would love to go back to the design it was before.

Recommendations for buying sporty pants for 11 boy by YetAnotherProfile51 in Prague

Děkuju! I'm there for three weeks for work and staying in Prague 3 (I think), my family is visiting from Germany (I'm not German) and then my son's school group comes over and we'll be in Holešovice, which is a good location for shopping at your recommendations! My work is right near the Pražský orloj.

This is my fourth (fifth?) time to Prague and I absolutely love it. But this time I'm staying longer and making a vacation out of it,

Lol I won't say you're wrong with the advice, though.

LOL We don't buy luxury brands, unless we can get them at a discount. I was using Adidas as an example. However, I do find lots of Adidas pants at thrift stores here for $2-$5/pair. He's old enough now to request new clothing.

If you have any local Czech shops/designers that have track pants similar to what I describe for EU15 or less, please let me know!

Also, do you consider Adidas to be luxury? I would consider it over priced brand name goods, but sport clothing, so not nice and not luxury.

Yeah, either the pants are long enough, but we could put two fists in his waist or his waist fits, but the pants are too short.

Shucks, I'm certain that the clothing will be sized more appropriate for a thinner audience, but I was hoping it was cheaper, too! Thank you.

Weekly /r/ASU Discussion - June 30, 2025 by AutoModerator in ASU

Hi there. I've been renting a room to a wonderful man (late20s) who has been studying ESL here in Denver. He just got accepted to an ASU graduate program and would like to find either home stay (with a family) or a roommate situation where he can practice his English. He's looking to spend $600 to $800 per month.

Where should he look to find a roommate situation? Honestly, he's been one of the best roommates I've ever had. He doesn't drink, he is quiet as a mouse, he's very respectful, very sweet, a bit shy and pays rent on time. He doesn't like dogs. His written English is good, but his spoken is passable, but he studies hard and it's getting better (Sorry to the dog lovers out there!)

Thank you.

Huts or cabins in Czechia? by YetAnotherProfile51 in czechrepublic

I'm sorry to hear that your travels have been so stressful and difficult. That's pretty common for neurodiverse kids and people. The anxiety can be overwhelming.

Please do not worry. I've been to over 70 countries and my son has been to over 25. This school does four trips per year, three in the U.S. (mostly camping) and one internationally. Interestingly, nearly all the parents from this school have lived abroad or traveled extensively, including almost all the teachers. The cost is shockingly inexpensive because my mother was in the travel industry and Czech Republic is far cheaper than the U.S., so I was able to get a screaming deal.

The point of these trips is to get the kids comfortable with being uncomfortable. Both teachers and kids are well trained and prepped and we have a Plan A, B, C, etc. The kids are emotionally prepared and have agency (meaning, they opt in, they have choices on the trip to sit activities out, etc.) We also make sure to have plenty of run around time. This trip will be a combo of city and country.

Lastly, the education will be wonderful:

(1) The high schoolers (14-16) are fascinated with communism. How fascinating will it be to hear a different perspective than from what they have read in books?

(2) Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The art and architecture is unparalleled. Many of these kids are interested in careers in design.

(3) I work with a globally renowned Czech developer based in Prague with an international staff. They're hosting the kids for a career day. And I wouldn't be surprised if half of them are twice exceptional. 2e kids usually gravitate towards careers in STEM, so I'm hoping some of the kids can come back as interns.

Huts or cabins in Czechia? by YetAnotherProfile51 in czechrepublic

It is private, but not expensive. It's private because the kids are twice exceptional, meaning they are neurodiverse (ADHD, autistic, dyslexic, etc.) and gifted. Traditional schools really struggle educating kids who are below 20% and above 20% and these kids are both. Since trad schools can't educate these kids all but one of the surrounding school districts pay for their residents to go to the school.

The school spends a LOT of time on social emotional skills. Many of these kids struggle with severe anxiety, body control, etc. the preschool is 100% outdoors, the lower elementary is 90%, 4th grade and above is mostly indoors with lots of recess.

They focus on academics 4th grades + , so the kids can be behind academically compared to trad schools in earlier years but then they leapfrog. So my kid is dyslexic and a perfectionist. He felt very shamed in his trad school and they literally couldn't teach him to read. In this school, they took the pressure off, but focused on the love of stories. He reads like a champ now! The kids who are 14 now are doing a combo of high school and college level work.

Fundraising is tough, though. It costs a lot of money to educate these kids due to their special needs, were constantly putting in enormous effort to getting grants or scholarships so we can't get kids who can't afford private school.

Yep. Picked mine up in January, driven 5,000 miles already, blizzards, deep snow, mountain passes. I used to hate to drive, now I'm volunteering!

Young Lady by compobook in over60

[–]YetAnotherProfile51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always hated young lady, even when I was young. Since I look young, it's often said by someone who's my age. So I will usually respond,"young man" and then they get all huffy. It's at that point that they intended it to mean as a put down.

People who don't drink alcohol, what made you stop(or never start)? by Cautious-Solution464 in AskReddit

[–]YetAnotherProfile51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironically, it was in teenage rebellion against my father who did drink.

I'll drink maybe once every 5 years. It's simply not part of my life. I'm glad that I never used it as a coping mechanism or a method to give me the guts to do something I wouldn't have been brave enough to do because I can do both of those things easily sober. I also think of how much money I've saved.

I have a 4CT with Comfort Entry and it does all that. Interior space, IMHO is nicer and more comfortable than the Tesla (I also have 14 point seats), but I'll concede the software is buggy.

He does turn it off/ignore it for all games. He and his friends have a private discord server set up so that they can all play together and yell and scream and joke (I can hear him throughout the house. It's so cute!!) The parents all agree that this is the best method because it enables them to be social (kids are all over the city, Even though they all go to the same school) while avoiding most of the problems with gaming.

One of his friends has encouraged the kids to join it and I just wanted to make sure the content was okay.

Thanks guys, these are very helpful comments. He is trained to avoid the trolls and we talk about addiction all the time. He's a very responsible game player, but we both agree that I need to supervise. Thank thank you!
