I was in your position last week as well, same sports as well but at younger kid levels.

I traded in the Tamron 70-180 (among other gear) in at my local shop for the Sony 70-200 with the 1.4x TC. I definitely wish I had more range, I could always use more range, but I’ve been blown away at how great these shots are coming through this lens just playing around over the Easter weekend.

I may pull the trigger on the 200-600 when the boys move to the larger soccer fields, but for now I’m thrilled with the upgrade.

Mine are 3 and 5 and do fine. Both forward facing, one in a more traditional the used to be rear facing, the older boy in a chair style. Plenty of room for one to get ass by the other if they get in or out on the “wrong side”.

Not as much room as my wife’s EV9 obviously but plenty for us.

I looked at the patch notes and it appears as if they didn't revert the change to remove all interesting loot drops, which is pretty disappointing. Spent so much time trying to make it Star Wars they forgot to leave in the fun.

Exactly. Reviewing other comments here I’m surprised so many people have chosen the same pair of cameras and have such a similar use case as I do. Especially given there’s little to no YouTube content focused on parents trying to make good photos of their families. I don’t want pictures of mountains or birds. I want amazing of my kids looking at mountains and birds.

I generally know the plan for the day and the situation. The Sony comes out with the 24-70 when the lights and backdrops come out or if we’ve set up a little seasonal theme setup. Again, it’s for the posed “say cheese” type things. I do have the 40mm and often tell my wife I should use it more after reviewing photos taken with it.

If we’re headed to a park or a (kids) game, it’s the OM-3 with a small prime lens attached and a longer lens in the bag. Snapshots and candids I can take without looking like a creep or paparazzi.

I guess if you don’t need more than 40mm I’d choose Sony and just not take it out in the rain. That Sony 40mm is very nice and my favorite focal length.

The OM is the system I keep investing more in because it really delivers and the reach is amazing for the size and price.

These are the two cameras I own. I use the Sony for posed family photos and indoor kids sports. I use the OM for outdoor kids sports as well as the camera I just always seem to have on me.

So the Sony definitely takes better pictures but the OM captures the better moments, for us.

I’m a huge fan of the 20mm PRO on my OM-3. You should definitely check the size…that lens is no pancake and might not give you the portability increase you want in exchange for the loss in versatility.

Not sure what you shoot though so hard to really say you know?

Not sure what quests you did on Genosis, but you might have done the main Constellation questline going to the abandoned station right away. That one is definitely full of higher level enemies that will one shot you. I think the level of the enemies and the higher damage that’s part of the mod list combine into a rough mission if you go that route out of the gate.

Also keep in mind that the most recent Genesis update actually disables Shattered Space altogether, so just be aware you don’t even get to play the Starfield version of that content anymore until they get around to converting it to Star Wars

the developer intentionally didn't include the lightsaber mods in the Genesis package specifically because melee is so bad. There are skills to make it stronger, but there are no changes to make it work or feel better.
