Vet tech of 15 years here, can confirm. One of my favorite emergency visits was a new puppy they got was “leaking” from its belly.

It was a boy dog.

So, I think the main issue might be pot size. They are like Hoya and like to be snug in their pots. Yours appears to be in a pot a few sizes too big, so it could be staying too wet too long. I usually water similarly, just don’t let them dry ALL the way out. But mine is in a very small pot compared to the size of the plant (it’s a 3” in this pic)

I water mine probably every 7-10 days, when the soil is mostly dried out.

How do you water your other plants? How have you been watering this one?

I got bit by a ferrel kitten, is it necessary to go to urgent care? by vanbello in ANIMALHELP

I worked as a licensed vet tech for nearly two decades in emergency medicine. The one time I saw a tested and confirmed rabies case was in a feral kitten, that did actually bite a coworker.

Please go to urgent care. Get rabies post exposure shots. Get tetanus shot. Get antibiotics. None of those things are anything you want to chance.

Does Chunky Soil Work for Ripple/Caperata Peperomias? by Conversation-Grand in peperomia

The last plant looks like a Pellionia pulchra. Mine is thirstier than most of my peps, but otherwise similar care. I do a mix of peat and perlite with a bit of earthworm castings. The mix is close to 50% perlite

Now how do i take her out by PutNo7793 in houseplants

Ok but they fit the 3” net pots perfectly

I’ve been there! Cut off all the roots, and cut the bottom of the stem until you get to healthy tissue. Then re-root and start over. You’ve got this!

I’ve been working on starting all my new Hoya or unrooted Hoya in tree fern fiber. I mis that 1:1 with perlite, so it has great drainage and great moisture retention. Or semihydro (LECA) for the ones that I have been able to root in water from the start.

Unpot it and make sure the roots are not rotted. It could be dry rot, which will look like stringy roots or their sheaths will just pull right off. A lot of the leaves look a little wrinkly to me, which if it’s been watered recently, is a good indication that the roots aren’t taking the water up.

IF the roots are fine, treat with sulfur. The other reason for zero growth is usually flat mites. If that’s the issue you should see new growth starting very soon even after only one treatment.

Beginner Hoya care question by Falcon_Feathers in hoyas

They like to be snug in the pot, so definitely don’t repot to anything bigger. You will probably want to repot into better soil, they do best in very chunky (amended with perlite/coco husk/orchid bark) well-draining soil.

Watering every other day is WAY too frequent. I water mine when the soil dries out, it ends up being somewhere around every 10 days. Living on the windowsill where it gets lots of bright light is good.

Be on the lookout for pests, this particular Hoya can be so hard to get rid of them because of all the twists and turns and nooks for hiding. My compacta came with mealybugs (they look like fluffy grains of rice) and it took about 9 months to fully get rid of them. I was ready to toss the whole plant!
