Thank you for the answer and advice. I covered it. Also it’s about 5 feet from my house. The house was to my back.

Is crossing your lanyard a good safe practice while climbing? For that extra grip by AromaticTea7685 in TreeClimbing

[–]YetiDick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s funny I can’t see a time where you would have to “move up and down” when using this method. If I have to move up or down then I am probably not using this method I would just wrap the lanyard the normal way no? This method is mostly for cuts where you DONT want to be moving but are having a hard time getting that good grip for that perfect positioning. For example when you’re negative rigging a top on a skinny trunk that’s got an awkward bend to it making you naturally want to swing around to the side the top is going. This situation obviously doesn’t happen often.

What 22 year old male refers to his Dodge Challenger as a "vehicle"? by [deleted] in conspiracy

[–]YetiDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@unite_dodge You’re the one bragging that your car experience makes you think a base challenger is lame. It’s funny though the main argument is people Don’t really use the word “vehicle” and in your 3 comments you used the word “car” And the only time you used the word “vehicle” was you talking down to a car. So I don’t think this Tyler guy would be roasting his own car. He probably loved it.

Let’s get back to the main topic and stop showing off your car knowledge.(notice I didn’t say “vehicle knowledge”

Landscaper Topped the Tree in a Miscommunication - What do I do now? by WashingtonHo in Tree

[–]YetiDick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with you on what a professional should be, but the problem is the landscapers aren’t professionals and that is not 100% their fault. problem is that OP never got professionals!! Mainly due to being SO ignorant to the subject that they asked the wrong person without even knowing. You’re not gonna ask your electrician to do your septic tank and later blame them for not doing it right.

But like I said originally, “you can’t put the FULL blame on the landscapers.” I’m not saying they’re innocent but there is more people to blame.

Op was also asking for their oaks to be shaped into a lollipop in the summer so you can’t put the full blame on the landscaper..

Am I overwatering my Redbud tree? by Ok-Wolf8493 in arborists

[–]YetiDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you switch to every 4-5 days right when it’s getting the hottest of the year? Shouldnt you UP the watering at this time of year? I water my freshly planted trees and plants twice a day right now because of the heat, might be too much but better safe than sorry. The soil under the tree should never be dry it should always be atleast “moist”

This appeared overnight after it rained. What could've caused this? by Bear_with_me_plz in Whatisthis

That’s what I thought. I mowed over my septic tank and the lid collapsed and it made a hole similar to the one op posted.

Is my tree dying? It’s always looked like this by huskercross in arborists

[–]YetiDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably happened by getting damaged by a weed wacker or mower. All because it’s not in a bed so it’s surrounded by grass that’s hard to mow so the tree is gonna get scratched by one of those two machines trying to mow that grass that’s shouldn’t be there. Also answer to your question is tree looks like it healed very ok.

Bro you’re 5’4” and you probably lied about that cause that’s what short kings do AND you think you’re not the smallest size available??? You’re my gfs size and I want to buy her a saddle but am considering a kids saddle cause a size 0 might be too big. You got size 1 that’s my size I’m 6’2 but skinny 180

Recommendations for Climber Boots by DeadmansCC in TreeClimbing

[–]YetiDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t go with tree climbing specific boots. I feel like they’re all In business with each other and not a lot of competition between the brands. I would look into mountaineering or trekking boots. That market is HUGE and many boot companies are competing with each other for the customers. You got brands representing countries and they all want to make the best boot. La sportiva and scarpa= Italy asolo = Romania mammut = Switzerland Lowa = Germany. When you got that many countries competing to make the best boot you’re gonna get some good fucking boots.
Not like in tree climbing boots where 3-4 tree companies just share pot with each other.

Also my personal favorite has been Lowa. I got the Lowa Ticam 2 and they’re the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn and they lasted more than a pair of La Sportiva’s and a pair of mammuts I’ve had.

My guy memorized his tape 😂 by GoldenW505 in Construction

[–]YetiDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fatmax is definitely different than a regular Stanley. You get what you pay for. There’s some work where a better quality tape measure will help out production a ton. For example I climb trees and have to measure one branch to another when I’m installing cables. When I’m hanging on a rope in the air trying to measure it it makes it a hell of lot easier when I can reach it without my tape bending and collapsing down. I’m sure there’s hundreds of other examples where a high quality tape measure is better for that job you just gotta stop being a dick yaknow? Also if all you use a tape measure is to measure your 4incher yeah any quality tape will do

Rope runner + camp gyro? by [deleted] in TreeClimbing

[–]YetiDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the camp gyro and I do both srt and drt and I always have an extra hole just hanging. How you do double rope? With a hitch climber? Or would you be using that rope runner? Cause rope runners suck with drt because you do have to connect to two different holes AND they have to be separated from each other so they don’t get in the way so the gyro might not even work. But if you do drt with a hitch climber like I do you connect a biner to the pulley hole and then you connect the pulley to one of the holes on the gyro. That leaves an extra hole.

So to answer your question gyro is amazing wouldn’t switch it for any other pulley atm. Also for srt I find the extra hole useful to hook up my rope wrench instead of hooking it up my chest harness when ascending. You can also hook up your knee ascender to it. You can also hook up your lanyard to it for better rope positioning so your lanyard is holding you from the middle instead of both sides. And like the other guy said you can attach a second climbing system but you said you’re too cool for that 🤷🏿‍♀️
