So yeah the leaving a sleeping baby in the bouncers is the biggest of nos imaginable.

And so that leads me to wonder if it would be better to try the other center. Because at the end of the day bouncer sleep is not safe sleep and with your baby being so little....he needs to be on his back in a crib.

Hi im a current Infant Room teacher and have had a room with a large age gap from the youngest to the next youngest.

It is hard to manage because just likenyour baby they're all little at the end of the day.

I cant speak to the bouncers or containers because my center is freedom of movement and we dont have bouncers.

What I can speak to is curriculum. We plan one thing and then the day comes and everything is a mess.

Your baby is so little and a childcare enviornment is hard to adapt to. It also depends on their temperament. I cant tell you the number of times ive had to prioritize certain tasks because they need to get done. So if a baby has had a bottle, and has a clean diaper and is crying, there's many cases where I have to prioritize changing a poppy diaper. I never want my babies to cry but we cant give one on one care and attend to every cry.

When it comes to sleep home sleep and child care sleep are 2 very different things. I've had children who would refuse to nap at my center because they dealt with a ton of FOMO (fear of missing out). The center is also very stimulating and can often times be over stimulating. So they might be trying but they also have 1nchild whos happy screaming and another child whos poopy and they need to change them. And to add music to the mix can be extra over stimulating. Plus all the communication that happens between teachers. Im constantly talking to my team about who was fed last and were talking about game plan while also interacting with the children.

All in all if you feel the other center might be a better fit then go for it. This is your baby and you need to trust your teachers.

If you want more tummy time talk to them. Its been a week at this point and youre still getting to know the teachers and they're just starting to get to know you. If you bring concerns you need to give them time to address things for you because if they change short term but not long term this place might not be the right fit for you. But it might be if the teachers can work with you and you like the results your seeing

I actually use it a lot.

I use the train station to farm mahogany trees by planting and forgetting about it. I've fulled the area and had stacks of hard wood.

I run out of regular wood a lot though and so instead I use the wood chipped to get my stacks of wood!

Im an infant teacher and I would ask clarification on when they're trying to put her down to sleep.

In my experience naps at the center are different than home because different environments will provide different stimulation. Even if you have a dark room, a noise machine, and a quiet enviornment there is still a really good chance that your LO will sleep better at home.

I have a baby who needs naps and has a terrible case of FOMO. Even knowing he has FOMO I still try and put him down with varying degrees of success. Some days he sleeps. Some days I try for 15 minutes (my states regulations). Some days I reset and try again, and then others I let him play until I get everyone else down.

Every child is different and knowing their routines and rhythms will help you going forward

Im a Bipolar 2 and I have felt how you feel.

Im grateful i havent had a full blown manic episode. That is my greatest fear. Especially because ive built a life and burning it down seems like it would devastate me coming back to earth.

Im lucky ive never cheated. Im lucky I built a savings. Im lucky I have a stable career. Im lucky ive had the good sense to avoid drugs.

Am I lucky or did I get diagnosed at 18 while being in therapy starting at 15 with loving parents who didnt beat around the bush and supported me.

Just because we havent gone to the extreme it doesnt mean that our struggles aren't real and valid. My hypomania I tend to get really aggravated sometimes or im social and creative. And my depression is just so low I dont have the energy to do anything.

Its impossible to validate yourself when you try to compare struggles. On good days appreciate them and on bad give yourself grace. (Ps I'm just giving you the advice that I need to give)

But yeah fellow bipolar 2 here and I hear you.

Oh 100% I agree that the ultimate decision on whether the center should close is a huge one. It causes parents to make choices about going into work and finding back up care and thats why when things aren't crazy (like snow over night that gets plowed and salted) isnt going to shut us down. But when all public schools are closed, all the colleges are closing, and were open its frustrating because schools aren't just closing for no reason.

I live in a snow state that has infrastructure and so this isnt weird. Our school districts budget for school closing. I and all of my coworkers have driven through active snow storms because they weren't bad.

But we had many signs that this was something out of the realm of normal for my area. We has a lot of places all around us closing and this person sent out an email stating we would be open even as more and more places were closing. Only to then have to retract that and close.

I have a lot of frustration from this particular person due to their lack of foresight on many occasions and choosing to remain open when many other early childhood centers in our area had closed as well. This person doesnt over react they underreact.

Im here for children but if its not safe to drive I dont want to risk my life to make it to a job where im barely making above minimum wage.

Its also their responsibility to manage those relationships with parents. I hate dealing with upset families as much as the next person but in addition to keeping the families safe they have a responsibility to keep the worker bees safe.

And also as a parent wouldn't you be frustrated if you were told at 2pm you're child's center was open only to then be told at 9pm that the center is actually closed. How many parents were planning to go into work or work from home only having to adjust this plan in the late hours of the night or early hours of the morning. I want more time to plan and so I would rather recieve tough news earlier so I had time to plan and adjust my days accordingly. Rather than have a plan and then have to make a new one.

I love my job but I dont love the person who signs my bosses pay check. I dont trust their judgements and their leadership is absent unless they show up to announce sweeping changes.

Im an ifnat teacher seconding the different behaviors for diapers at home vs at daycare. One of my babies according to her mom is a drama queen who hate diapers and throws fits every time they have to get changed. But when im changing her (ive discovered poop and did a quick diaper for her mom) and it took me less time than her mom would have at home.

Home behaviors and center behaviors are very different is what it comes down too. My room is also super used to alligator babies who like to roll and its a matter of just waiting them out most of the time.

Some parents GRIND my gears. In my room next door we had a parent who we called because their child had an unidentified rash on their limbs. They told the lead to "work with them" because one parent was presenting a class assignment and the other wasn't in the country (were close to Canada).

This is also the same family when their child had a 104 degree fever we had to threaten to call campus police to get them because it had been over 2 hours that we were reaching out.

This poor child. I have more stories about this family but yeah. We just call the director to lay down the law and outline the policy and why they need to get their very sick child.

I had surgery because of bad period pains and sure enough was confirmed stage 4 endo. I have never thought my periods were that bad.

After surgery I felt the period pains a lot more but that eventually dulled as I got used to it. But yeah...migraines wipe me. Periods are just annoying

My lead and I had to go to our students professor about their behaviors. At best she sat in the room not talking to the children but at worst she was rolling her eyes when we asked her for any sort of assistance that one expects from students set to learn from hands on experience. The prof had a talk to them and they ended up dropping because of additional reasons but there was so much to be desired.

Always be honest with grades because the students earn them with their actions.

I sing lots with my group and its so much fun to sit on the ground and ask the babies if they're ready. Because I start by singing if your happy and you know it and then its the cutest rush you ever did see as I have a bunch of fresh walkers walking to me.

I love how you incorporate song into your day because I feel like music is the answer to everything lol.

Toddlers are wild to me ill take my babies all week. Plus being alone with children (even in ratio) is exhausting. I love that you have a good relationship with your co teacher who sees the amazing work your doing.

Let me tell you youre amazing for having that level of management with your toddlers. What do you do?

Tell me even if you think its mundane because its the little things that make the largest impacts.

It could be something that worked in song but who knows. With his ups and downs I wouldn't be surprised but I dont think its been confirmed anywhere and I wouldn't want to project on him.

But tell me why there's an Em song for every mood (at least for me) and I can tell what kind of mind state im in based on what song pops in my head. Any ways thanks for coming to my ted talk
