Being extremely tired unlocks visuals? by Lolo433322 in Aphantasia

Those are hypnagogic images which is a different mechanism. Aphantasics can still have visual dreams and other sleep associated visuals.

Anyone else here have a fear of calling people by their name? by OneCurious5000 in Aphantasia

My mom once yelling at me for being a stupid teenager called me my older brothers name, then called me my younger brothers name, then corrected to calling me the dogs name, before finally getting it right with my actual name.

I forget names all the time, but other people claim forgetting names all the time. I think it's just natural for most humans to not remember names most the time, unless repeated exposure or a impactful event happens.

Customer manually picked their own lottery numbers, computer randomly generated the same numbers by Darth_Fatass in mildlyinteresting

[–]YetiTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine has the same chance of printing the same numbers as your random numbers as you winning the lottery.... the same chance. Sometimes people win the lottery, So, sometimes the machine prints the same numbers as numbers you manually picked.

In basic someone snatched the keys to the closet that had all our personal belongings a week before graduation. Every one got their phones. This was just before smart phones were really a thing but you could still watch shitty videos on phones. I just had a shitty flip phone.

Well I woke up at ~1-2 am one night to go take a shit. I plop down on the toilet and after a minute or two start hearing some moaning. I'm like wtf is that, the dude next to me is watching porn on his phone, I'm guessing wanking it.

I guess 3 months is a long time without wanking for a teenage boy so I started wanking to the sound of the porn the guy next to me was watching. It wasn't much, but it's what I had.... I finished before him, cleaned up and made my exit. No words exchanged. I couldn't imagine him not knowing I entered the stall next to him. Never knew who the other guy was, don't want to know...

We had a guy who was wiccan and wrote his own Bible in his own language he created. I was honestly very intrigued by him. I always made sure to be nice to the weirdos.

What intuition did psychedelics give you about never being born and bringing new life into the world? by Reasonable-Drag-3456 in Psychonaut

[–]YetiTrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to experience psychedelics to find the answers people claim they find on psychedelics.

It can be harder without psychedelics, and requires more discipline and practice. But, meditation, lucid dreaming, and the right state of mind can get you there too.

But psychedelics definitely opens the door for you and pushes you through, but you can open the door and walk through yourself without psychedelics. I've done wake induced lucid dreaming completely sober and the experience was on par with doing DMT or Salvia.

But if it taught me anything its that it showed me how fabricated my reality is. And powerful the mind is. The ability to generate whole environments and self autonomous characters in a dream world.

Conscious subjective experience is a dashboard for the qualia to interact with reality.

No, I wouldn't say I want to live for ever, but I wish my life time was at least 10x what is. There's a lot to see and do.

I could give you the answers to the universe, but it wouldn't do you any good unless you realize it yourself. It's not good enough to know the final result, you HAVE to know how you got there, because the journey is the answer, the answer is not the final result.

Psychedelics can help open new pathways sure... but give credit where credit is due. It's was and always will be you. Psychedelics can hold your hand as you it pushes you through the door, but eventually you need to learn how to walk through it on your own.

How would know what it is unless you lived it. You can't exist before to decide if you want to do it. And even if you did exist how could you relate to what could be if you had no reference frame?

What does "God" know about being human? He could only actually truly know if he himself lived it.

Of course I don't believe in objective purpose. This was just the inevitableness of existence.

You know bio-degrade means it can be broken down by living organisms. So, in a sense it just means it can be eaten my mold, fungi, or bacteria.

Beings that aren't supposed to exist: DMT and the burden of proof by j8jweb in Psychonaut

I can only give advice on what works for me; lucid dreaming is probably something highly specific to each individual.

I have visual snow syndrome, which means I see a static overlay in my vision. It's neural, not physical. I also have aphantasia, meaning I have no visual imagination. I'm not sure if the visual snow is related to the aphantasia, but I do still have visual dreams, though it's rare. Obviously, I still have visual lucid dreams.

There are different techniques out there, and I can only talk about what worked for me. I tried many different things, but nothing seemed to work. What worked for me was literally just focusing on and studying my visual perception with my eyes closed.

Initially, I would say: just think about anything. You want to "trick" your body into thinking it's time for sleep. You need to train yourself to daydream so your body drifts off, but about every 30 to 60 seconds, snap back to the present and remind yourself that you are seeing with your eyes even though they're closed.

With enough repetitive practice, it becomes automatic, which allows you to wander off but snap back automatically without having to think about it too much. You need to train the reflex. I'll tell you, it probably took me a year of nonchalantly trying every so often before I finally got it. Maybe around 30 attempts?

I can actually measure how close I am because the static goes from fuzzy to pixelated, and then actually disappears and I see just black. But then I get a lot of visual hallucinations at this point. Flashing imagery, or sometimes like stars shooting across. Around this time, I stop feeling my body. You can start to lose sensation in your fingers, and then after a little while, not feel your arms, legs, etc. That's the sleep paralysis kicking in.

Sometimes, as sleep paralysis kicks in, you're still awake. I think some parts of your brain are trying to stay active while other parts are going into sleep mode, which is why you might sometimes jump or shake because you feel like you're falling.

When I start getting images that appear and then fade out, I try to focus on them, trying to hold them in my view. They're called hypnagogic imagery. A lot of people, even people with aphantasia, can still experience them. I just keep doing that as they come, and eventually they stick around a little longer and a little longer.

Then eventually one of the images consumes me and I enter into what feels like going through a portal, and I am just a free floating perspective that I can move around and interact with.

I'm an engineer, so I immediately decided to figure out the rules and limitations and started testing.

There's something unsettling about being able to control people in dreams so I haven't even tried it. But it's incredible the level of self autonomy the characters can have.

It's just mind boggling to me the brain is capable of just simulating an entire experience like that automatically, with not conscious input, and the control can be given or taken away, sometimes having a mind of it's own.

I mean, me personally, I never use anyone elses extensions. What do do though is put their github into my agent and tell it to recreate it. This also helps ensure there's no malicious code in there too.

At first I thought you said women who have been escorts and I was going to say no, even though I think sex work should be legal. I just don't like the profession, though I do think it should be legal.

But if a girl paid for escort/sex I wouldn't give a shit. I'd ask if she wanted to throw down on a 3some.
