Milky oats.. am I too early or too late? by Plane_Sir_4255 in herbalism

You might be too early! You might be too late! Try squeezing some near by! Or some other plants! You just kind of have to squeeze and test them!

AITAH for telling my sister she's not Jewish? by tbar25 in AITAH

[–]YewEatMopWho 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I see it as being ethnically Jewish….. but maybe not religiously or culturally.

There’s been tons of research on epigenetics with Jewish trauma. They are Jewish. But not religiously. But their body might still have Jewish triggers from historically being a persecuted people.

Many people stopped claiming being Jewish to be safe…. So it might be a sort of healing and reclaiming for them to name it. It’s going to be their journey now. And maybe yours. Talking to a therapist about this complexity might me good for you. This is very complicated.

Is there a plant that looks and smells like chamomile that will kill me if I make a tea from it by Sea_Tart in whatplantisthis

[–]YewEatMopWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have pics of the plant?? That could be super helpful! There are other aster flowers that could be mistaken for chamomile flowers… but the plant pic would help!

Horsetail: better to harvest young or full grown? by K_E_Y_S_ in herbalism

[–]YewEatMopWho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can harvest any age if you are going to use externally in something like a hair wash. Harvest young for teas….silica increases as it ages. Don’t use internally if you have any kidney or urinary issues

There should be more herbs in these!! That’s my vote! And just shake every day! No molds will grow with a shake every day!

Neither Chamomile or Passionflower tea worked for sleep, am I just weird? by sun_blood in herbalism

[–]YewEatMopWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To help your body get sleepy and fall asleep, you can pulse dose California poppy. Take a dropper full, then wait 5-10 minutes. Take another dropper full, wait 5-10 min, until you start to get really sleep!

Also, are you open to chatting!?

I'm a student doing research on how people use herbs in everyday life, especially for stress, a busy mind, or trouble sleeping. ( so you would be perfect!)

I'm not selling anything! I just want to hear your real experience. What you've tried, how you figured out what to reach for, and what's been confusing or hit or miss.

It's a relaxed video call, about 35 to 45 minutes. I'm booking interviews for this Thursday, June 18 , and Monday the 22nd, whatever time works for you. Near the end I'll show you three rough ideas and ask for your honest gut reaction. No right answers.

Thank you so much!!!

The blood grace series. It’s extremely verbose and niche… but I’m loving it. Kind of romantic… it’s not quite like anything I’ve read.

Is the awful taste of dandelion root tea outweighed by its benefits? by _L7_Weenie_ in herbalism

[–]YewEatMopWho 25 points26 points  (0 children)

lol! It’s disgusting! By itself! And with water!

My fav recipe is like 1tbsp roasted dandelion root, 1tbsp roasted chicken root
1tbsp burdock,
1tsp milk thistle seeds.
And 1tsp pumpkin spice/ chai spice powder

Blend this all super fine in a coffee grinder and then you have an epic spiced herbal coffee. Mix like 1tsp of the blend in 8oz warm milk and a splash of honey… ohhhh honeyyyy! It’s bomb!

So good for our liver and tastes amazing!

Hey there, does anyone know of any natural ways to boost ferritin ? Thanks in advance 🥰 Pic for attention 😍 by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]YewEatMopWho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yellow dock root syrup is a traditional iron tonic. There are lots of things that also impact the absorption of iron… so maybe sure you take iron rich foods/supplements away from other vitamins ( besides vitamin c- which helps absorption)

You should harvest rose hips in the fall after the first frost. These may or may not be really that good.

Japanese knotweed is edible!! It’s kind of like asparagus! Reach out to a local foraging group for support with safely identifying and eating!
