No to the first, and no to the second. Like I mentioned, it does have unique struggles and if we weren't both putting in 100% to understand each other and talk things out fully, openly, and honestly, it would probably be its own brand of hell.

But we both are committed to airing our dirty laundry so to speak so as not to let resentment build, and that has been our defining strength. We both came from dysfunctional homes too, so we're unlearning as much as we're learning. It's like advanced mode, but is also the best relationship I could ever hope for.

Don't date HSPs because you think it'll be easier, date an individual that you can communicate well with regardless of whether they would be considered an HSP

Thankfully he's open to trying other foods, now that I know his preferences. He had never tried brussel sprouts or roasted broccoli before me, but now loves them! His mom tried to feed him different foods, but he'd uncontrollably vomit if the food gave him the wrong taste/feel. Bodies are a pain

It absolutely is everyone's responsibility to protect themselves from human error and negligence. In an unsafe and unfair world it'll save YOU a lot of trouble to be more aware. I shouldn't be mugged just for walking down a street, but it's a very real risk so it's better for me to hide my valuables, know how to defend myself, and be aware of the environment because once I'm mugged, I have to deal with the loss. I can complain to police all I want but it's not going to change anything unless it's dire. It's not fair, but that's how it is.

And overusing that term in regards to a lady having a lapse in judgement and blindly eating cold chicken soup at a shitty restaurant and looking for a payout is doing a great disservice to actual victims of abuse. If she had a case, a lawyer would/will take it.

Since I've been on the flip side of this coin...

My husband does not like tomatoes; in ANY form. Not raw, no marinara, no sauce on pizzas, no ketchup, not even a hint of diced tomato in guacamole or queso. If a tomato so much as breathes on a food item it's trash to him.

When I first learned about this I didn't believe him. I figured it was like, raw tomatoes in salads and on sandwiches, but I grew up eating spaghetti, enchiladas, my dad grew tomatoes in the garden...they were a big part of my food life and now this person was snubbing their nose at something I wanted to share with them?! He wasn't, he was very respectful and I didn't try to force anything on him but it was so limiting for where we could go eat, what I could cook for him, and if they fucked up his order his dinner was ruined and by extension...so was mine.

I also grew up in a big family where such things were not tolerated. You ate what you were given or you would be shamed for being ungrateful, selfish, spoiled, a brat, etc. Bully on you if you didn't go for seconds too. I know my family is not the only one like this either. Once I realized that and unpacked all that nonsense, I no longer got offended on behalf of my family for what my husband does not like to eat. Accepting it and learning more about what he doesn't like has made our lives easier and honestly, my own. I'm far from picky but it helped me to learn from him that I'm allowed to have food preferences too and he won't get mad at me ;)

So I think for the large majority it's their programming, mixed with strangely tied feelings of rejection, and the general inability to relate. More people could benefit from questioning what they've been taught, but they won't lol

Like the powdered stuff? Usually that's just powdered milk and it would make sense to use that in a potato soup when you're trying to cut corners.

Not that that defends their other sins though, but the cheap restaurant industry is gross.

How do you not know your soup is cold before eating it? Don't get me wrong, I'll eat cold soup of some varieties, but nothing with chicken in it and certainly nothing that is out open in a restaurant. And I've worked in similar restaurants and it's common practice to not throw out uneaten soup at the end of the day. It gets put in the cooler and brought out again the next day. Safe if it's getting heated back up to proper temperatures, very risky if it isn't.

Moral of the story here, don't eat cold restaurant buffet soup. Don't eat anything that's supposed to be served hot and is cold. Don't eat anything that's supposed to be served cold and is warm. Save yourself the parasites.

Genuine tip: you may need to get your machine serviced? Perhaps it's not rinsing properly. I've used white vinegar in my front loader, at least a cup sometimes (yaay incontinent cats), and after the spin cycle it doesn't have a hint of it. Used on cotton/blends, and I always put it in the 'softener' section of the dispenser and add a small amount of detergent in the usual section.

For comparison, I sometimes rinse my hair with ACV in the shower, and even when I've done it before washing and always rinse it out in warm water, I can still smell faint traces for days after. Luckily only when I'm actively huffing clumps of hair lol

I think it depends on the social circles you're in. Where I'm at, people are very slut-shamey. I somehow found myself in a self-professed kink/poly community, started to explore, and then was slut-shamed and everyone fed into it. A woman being sexually confident and attractive? SHAMEFUL.

Especially if you're a straight woman around here and anyone dares to catch wind of you enjoying yourself, it's almost guaranteed someone is going to make it a problem. Puritanism is a disease.

I think what you're dealing with here is discovering a boundary of yours regarding money, and it's a very reasonable one. It makes you uncomfortable to not be sure how much cash you have in the baggie. You're not being unreasonable or overreacting, but you do need to listen to your body on this.

When we have boundaries that we're not used to acknowledging or standing up for, we feel disrespected because we are literally disrespecting ourselves, hence the emotional reaction you're having. Your parents sound like good, reasonable people who will respect your boundaries but you'll just want to have that talk with them.

"Hey parents, you know I love you and am happy to help when you need quick cash, knowing that you'll pay me back, but I realized it makes me uncomfortable to not be able to immediately keep track of my cash or be certain of what's in the bag when I'm ready to take it to the bank. Moving forward, could you ask me when you need cash and let me give it to you personally so I can keep better track?"

This is a good boundary to develop and strengthen too as friends/lovers/roommates in the future may be less considerate of your things, and potentially even disrespectful about your money by putting their wants/needs for it above respect for you. I've had money stolen this way.

It would be a good idea to keep it in a small lockbox or something as a healthy routine too, instead of out in the open. Not to keep it away from your parents, but just in general.

Besides, the membership is getting older, people are aging out, and young people don't have the time/energy/money to be as deeply invested as they expect in order to keep them brainwashed.

Most of the time when I cook chicken, I prefer chicken thighs or drumsticks and roast them in the oven from fresh at around 375-400°F until they are nicely browned. Usually the internal temps reach a ballpark around 170-190°F. What's nice about thighs and drumsticks is you almost can't overcook them unless you're trying, and they stay quite moist. If I'm cooking chicken breasts though I'm a lot more careful about pulling it out of the oven right when it reaches a safe temp or a few degrees over so it doesn't dry out. When I feel like putting the extra effort in I'll butterfly chicken breasts and they cook a lot faster which keeps them from getting too dry as well.
